WIKILEAKS founder Julian Assange on Sunday said he thinks President Trump's adviser and son-in-law Jared Kushner was "correct" if he attempted to set up backchannel communication with Russian leadership.
"Kushner correct to create channels with everyone," Assange tweeted Sunday, following reports that Kushner sought to set up a line of communication between the Trump transition team and Moscow.
"CIA has no authority over leadership and is financially motivated to increase conflict."
Washington Post reported last week that Kushner in December sought to establish a backchannel line of communication between the Trump transition team and Moscow.
The move came during a meeting with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak.
The FBI is looking at meetings that Kushner fielded with Kislyak and Russian banking executive Sergey Gorkov in December as part of the law enforcement investigation into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Moscow.

Due to low voter turn out from Black voters who have historically supported Democrat presidential candidates, the Mainstream Media has tried to blame Hillary's defeat on Black voters.
However this synopsis couldn't be further from the truth.
In reality Trump's victory is due Mainstream Media BIAS against Trump during this campaign season.
In essence, the Media's ploy to demonize Trump
while building up Hillary backfired.

Melissa Harris-Perry hasn’t welcomed MSNBC viewers to “nerdland” since Super Bowl Sunday. For the past two weekends, Harris-Perry’s unusually cerebral morning show has been preempted for straight news coverage of the 2016 campaign.
Her program was set to return to its 10 a.m.–to-noon slot this Saturday, but when the lights come up, the host won't be there.
“Putting me on air seems to be a decision being made solely to save face," Harris-Perry wrote in an email to her staff, explaining why she would not be appearing on her program this weekend. "Here is the reality:
Our show was taken — without comment or discussion or notice — in the midst of an election season. After four years of building an audience, developing a brand and developing trust with our viewers, we were effectively and utterly silenced.”
In the email, which was first obtained by the New York Times, Harris-Perry called attention to her status as one of the network's few African-American on-air personalities.
Arguing that her show had been put back on the schedule to "provide cover for MSNBC" from social-media criticism of its lack of diversity, Harris-Perry wrote, “I am not a token, mammy, or little brown bobble head."
Harris-Perry told the Times that the network had stolen editorial control of her program and demanded that she forgo the show’s signature discussions of policy and political theory so as to give more time to the latest developments in the presidential horse race.
The host did say that she did not believe there was a “personal racial component” to the show’s treatment.
Last year, the network's African-American political reporter Joy Reid had her daytime show canceled, while Al Sharpton's nightly program was demoted to the weekend.
An NBC spokesperson told the Times, in a statement, “In this exciting and unpredictable presidential primary season, many of our daytime programs have been temporarily upended by breaking political coverage, including M.H.P. This reaction is really surprising, confusing and disappointing.”
Harris-Perry, who is also a political-science professor at Wake Forest University, is one of the last vocally progressive daytime hosts on MSNBC.
Since Andy Lack took the reins of NBC News last year, he has steered the cable network away from liberal analysis and toward breaking-news coverage, particularly in the daytime hours.
~ Here's a look at some of the more prominent untruths the media have reported about Trump:
1. He is not a billionaire. Forbes magazine researchers have placed his worth at $4 billion, while Trump asserts that he is worth $10 billion. A disclosure document recently released by the Federal Election Commission lists 515 different positions and 168 assets and sources of income for Trump.
The assets include 23 that are valued at more than $50 million each. Many items require that he check the box marked "$50 million or more" when they could be worth considerably more, meaning Trump's fortune may be higher than the disclosure suggests.
2. Trump is not a successful businessman.Critics says he inherited a fortune from his family and has declared bankruptcy several times. But Trump's father had a net wealth estimated at between $250 million and $400 million at the time of his death, and he had four surviving children who were heirs, so Trump is responsible for accumulating the great bulk of his fortune. Trump has never personally declared bankruptcy. Some businesses he controlled or licensed his name have, but this is not unusual for a mogul who has owned hundreds of properties and businesses through the years.
3. He said all Mexicans were rapists. What he said while announcing his candidacy is that illegal immigrants from Mexico are "bringing drugs. They're bringing crime. They're rapists. And some, I assume, are good people."
Trump has made it clear he was not saying all Mexicans are criminals or that all illegal aliens are criminals, but the media have continued to charge that he branded Mexican immigrants as rapists. He has also said he "loves" the Mexican people, but was referring to the Mexican government.
4. Trump said John McCain is not a war hero. The Washington Post reported that Trump said "McCain was not a war hero because he was captured by the North Vietnamese." But Trump immediately modified his statement by saying, four times, that McCain is a war hero, including: "He is a war hero" and "he is a war hero because he was captured."
The Post also did not put Trump's remarks in the context of a feud between Trump and the Arizona senator, who has characterized some Trump supporters as "crazies."
5. Only 2,500 people showed up to hear Trump speak at the Phoenix Convention Center. The Phoenix Business Journal reported that 4,200 people were on hand, and noted, significantly, that "there were scores of Trump backers that did not get into his rally because the room hit fire code capacity." Other independent observers have placed the crowd at over 7,500.
6. Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus spoke at length with Trump and asked him to tone down his rhetoric. Trump said that in fact he spoke with Priebus for just 10 minutes and Priebus told him that Trump hit a "nerve, doing well." He said Priebus told him "you can't change your personality and I understand that." Trump said it "was a really nice call, a congratulatory call."
7. Hispanics don't like Trump. A poll by One America News Network in Nevada found that Trump received 31.4 percent support among Hispanics, higher than the 27.7 percent he received overall. The only other candidate to receive double digit support from Hispanics was Scott Walker. with 11.4 percent.
8. Trump lied about his salary from "The Apprentice." MSNBC host Lawrence O'Donnell claimed that Trump's statement in his federal disclosure document that he made more than $213 million as host of the NBC reality show was a "complete, total lie." Later that same day O'Donnell backed away from the claim, saying "I don't know" how much Trump really earned.
9. Trump was a draft dodger. Pundit Fact, a site powered by PolitiFact.com, looked into the charge and concluded: "To the best of our knowledge, no one has charged Trump with violating the Selective Service law. His student deferments were routine. And unless someone has new information, there is no legal issue with his medical deferment."
10. Americans are outraged by Trump's comments on immigration. According to Rasmussen Reports, 63 percent of Americans want the U.S. to gain control of the border, as Trump has demanded. His strong showing in the polls is further proof of support for his stance.

It appears Joe Scarborough strongly disagrees with these Criminal charges.
According to Joe and a Legal Expert Guest, the Grand Jury panel must find these 6 Rogue Cops GUILTY "Beyond a Reasonable Doubt".
Why is it whenever a Victim is BLACK and the Murderers involved are WHITE, "Beyond a Reasonable Doubt" is the Legal Standard??
However if the Victim is WHITE and the Murderer is BLACK, he or she is automatically GUILTY??
It will be a solemn end to a brutal month that should have never happened.
The people of St. Louis County have endured a long, hot August punctuated by protests, riots, looting and streets that looked more like Fallujah than Ferguson.
It has all put the issues of race and police brutality up for debate across America and the world.
The generals of Egypt and the ayatollahs of Iran have joined a chorus of dictators who have seized on the grim images of August to condemn our country.
But there’s no need to concern ourselves with lectures coming from tyrants. Instead, now is the time for us to start asking how this altercation spiraled out of control and became an international incident.
No one knows whether the shooting of Michael Brown was justified.
Forensic evidence should give us a better idea of what happened on that fateful afternoon. But we can already pass judgment on the negligent response of local officials to the teenager’s death.
The first ingredient in this toxic brew was a police force that was radically different from the people they were paid to serve and protect.
It’s hard to practice what experts call community policing when your force looks nothing like the community they patrol.
New York Police Commissioner Bill Bratton has been a champion of community policing. It is a strategy designed to get the community invested in keeping city streets safe.
The choke-hold death of Eric Gardner shows that New York cops aren’t perfect, but the bank of trust that Bratton’s approach has built up keeps New York’s protests over the killing peaceful.
As the Rev. Al Sharpton said while calling for peace at the New York rally, “We are not against the police.” That’s because many come from the same communities they are policing.
Sadly, the same cannot be said for Ferguson residents. In a town that is overwhelmingly black, the Ferguson police force of 53 has 50 white cops on the streets.
That’s an ethnic breakdown that’s more reminiscent of apartheid governments from South Africa’s grim past than community policing in today’s America.
And while many are quietly criticizing the welfare culture that they claim has led to the collapse of this troubled Missouri town, these armchair sociologists should be just as concerned with a police culture in Ferguson that is unrepresentative and isolated from the very people they should protect and serve.
A second cause of the Ferguson tragedy was the callous treatment of Michael Brown’s body after the shooting.
Policing experts suggest that officers gather evidence quickly and get a body off the street as quickly as possible. Former NYPD Detective Sgt. John Paolucci said police should conduct very little examination of the body at the scene other than photographing it.
Then, out of respect to the deceased and his community, the body should quickly be removed.
But Michael Brown’s body was left in the middle of a street in sweltering heat for over four hours. Parents had to rush their children away from the area and keep them hidden in rooms with windows facing away from the grisly scene.
As Bloomberg’s John Heilemann said today on ‘Morning Joe,’ it’s inconceivable to believe such a delay would have happened had a black cop shot a middle-class white teenage boy in his affluent hometown.
Rand Paul has declared there to be two different Americas when it comes to criminal justice. This should not be an opinion open to debate.
It is a fact provable by objective evidence. Anyone still denying that reality in 2014 has their head stuck in the sand — or worse.
The third ingredient to this toxic brew is the hyper-militarized nature of the Ferguson police department’s initial response.
Republicans Rand Paul, Ted Cruz and Erick Erickson condemned Ferguson’s militarized tanks, assault rifles and other war-ready equipment shipped from Washington with very little training and fewer strings attached.
The militarization of local police departments is a trend so troubling that Red State’s Erickson wrote that conservatives should not wait for a white teenager to get killed under such circumstances before they demand change.
For law enforcement officials worried about an overreaction to the events of this August, they must understand that if D.C. bureaucrats are going to ship out high-grade military equipment to small-town cops, tough guidelines and rigorous training have to be a part of the deal.
The problem is not with each and every police officer in towns like Ferguson.
The problem is cultural and these weapons demand an intense, disciplined training program to make sure we never repeat these same mistakes again.
How do we make sure this never happens again? You start with community policing — a force that represents the people they are supposed to protect.
Then we need a tough, long look at the militarization of local police departments. And finally, it is past time to put cameras on cops. As I said at the beginning of this crisis, these cameras would protect citizens, protect good cops and provide evidence that would let us know in real time what happened in cases like Michael Brown’s.
The only people hurt by putting cameras on cops are bad cops.
And we need them the hell out of the police force anyway to make sure we don’t endure a month like the one that just passed.
MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry chastised her guests for being too serious just before the controversial segment about former Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney's adopted black grandson.
She told viewers the panel of comedians would "be forced to drink during the commercial so they can get their funny back."
Harris-Perry would tearfully apologize for the resulting jokes a week later.
"My intention was not malicious, but I broke the ground rule that families are off limits, and for that I am sorry," Harris-Perry said Saturday.
The apology comes weeks after MSNBC host Martin Bashir lost his job because of remarks about former GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin.
Controversial comments by journalists about an American politician's family are not new. Harry Truman threatened physical violence against a Washington Post critic who famously wrote in 1950 that the president's daughter "cannot sing very well."
While Margaret Truman put herself into the public eye with her performance, Romney's grandson Kieran James only sat on his grandfather's lap for a family Christmas card photograph. And this instance involved race.
Harris-Perry asked her panelists to come up with captions for the photo of Romney, his wife and their 21 grandchildren, all white except for Kieran.
Comedic actress Pia Glenn sang a Sesame Street song: "One of These Things Is Not Like the Others."
Comedian Dean Obeidallah joked that the photo "really sums up the diversity of the Republican Party."
Harris-Perry described the baby as "gorgeous" and suggested Kieran could someday marry North West, the daughter of Kanye West and Kim Kardashian. "Can you imagine Mitt Romney and Kanye West as in-laws?" she joked.
Unlike Truman and the critic, Romney quickly forgave Harris-Perry. "People make mistakes, and the folks at MSNBC made a big mistake and they apologized for it," Romney said in an interview on "Fox News Sunday." "They apologized for it. That's all we can ask for."
Daily Beast political columnist Sally Kohn, a guest Sunday on CNN's "Reliable Sources," blamed the growing competitiveness and immediacy of media today for the increase in such incidents.
"There's always this incentive to say something that's newsworthy, attention-getting, but it's real easy to cross the line into offensive and stupid," Kohn said. "And that's a split-second judgment sometimes."
Harris-Perry, who is a political science professor at Tulane University, was surrounded by four comedians and no professional journalists. The live, unscripted show, which she said was her second annual "Look Back in Laughter" edition, seemed more like a night at the improv than a cable news program.
"This is the show where we dispense with the serious and sober coverage of the year in politics," she promised viewers. They would look back on "some of the political absurdity of 2013 with the ridicule and mockery it so rightly deserves."
Harris-Perry delivered an opening monologue loaded with obvious sexual puns about the Anthony Weiner sexting scandal.
Comedian Judy Gold joked about Sen. Ted Cruz, saying it was scary that the Texas Republican had daughters. Other comments came about the daughters of "rich, white Republicans."
The mandate for more punch lines was made clear by Harris-Perry after one somewhat serious segment.
"My comedians are all going to be forced to drink during the commercial so they can get their funny back because they've got real serious about sexism and feminism," the host said.
"We are basically ratings whores," Harris-Perry added.
Politico media reporter Dylan Byers said the MSNBC brand has been damaged by these controversies, considering the channel was "supposed to elevate the discourse" with smart, well-educated progressives who "lean forward."
"It's leaning backward and it's totally, it's not what MSNBC, I think, was supposed to be about originally, and I think it's doing real, severe damage to the brand," Byers said on CNN's "Reliable Sources."
Boston radio host Callie Crossley told "Reliable Sources" that Harris-Perry's brand has been damaged by the controversy as well. "Her brand is to exactly be on top of the kind of ignorant and other kind of racist commentary."
The Society of Professional Journalists has a code of ethics that says journalists should "use special sensitivity when dealing with children" and "show good taste." Students learn it in most journalism schools.
But the rule book in the rough-and-tumble world of politics and media is an unwritten common law of precedents that evolves partly through apologies, resignations and firings.
Harris-Perry's Apology makes one rule clear: the kids are off limits.
CNN anchor Don Lemon had some tough words for his competitors at MSNBC Monday night during a discussion about Melissa Harris-Perry and her panel poking fun at a crowded Mitt Romney family photo with his young black grandson.
Lemon used the opportunity to vent about the liberal network, calling it “smug” and unwilling to entertain actual diversity of opinion.
Republican Ana Navarro agreed with Lemon that it was in bad taste to use the child to mock the Romneys, but Marc Lamont Hill argued that they didn’t actually make fun of the baby itself, just used it to make a point about diversity in the Romney family and the GOP.
Lemon wondered if Hill would react the same way if the same segment aired on Fox. Navarro predicted, “By now, Jesse Jackson would be protesting and tied to a tree somewhere.”
Lemon then took on the “crowd” at MSNBC that’s given him lots of flak for comments he’s made on issues of race specifically. Lemon explained he’s never bothered responding because “dogs are supposed to howl at the moon, the moon doesn’t howl back.” He called MSNBC a “smug” club where despite touting diversity, there is “no diversity of opinion” on the network.
Hill agreed that “pockets” of MSNBC are “smug and condescending,” but Lemon continued on to dismiss the network as an insular den of liberalism where people are “saying mean, smug things about people who… may disagree with them.”
MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry apologized in a series of tweets Tuesday morning for using Mitt Romney's black adopted grandchild in a comedy segment over the weekend.
"I am sorry. Without reservation or qualification. I apologize to the Romney family," the apology started. "I work by guiding principle that those who offend do not have the right to tell those they hurt that they (are) wrong for hurting. Therefore, while I meant no offense, I want to immediately apologize to the Romney family for hurting them."
"As (a) black child born into large white Mormon family I feel familiarity w/ Romney family (picture) & never meant to suggest otherwise," she continued. "I apologize to all families built on loving trans-racial adoptions who feel I degraded their lives or choices."
In the segment, part of an hour taking a comedic look at 2013, Harris-Perry pulled up a Romney family photo with the newly adopted grandson, who is Black, sitting on Mitt Romney's knee.
One panelist, actress Pia Glenn, sang “one of these things is not like the other” with another joking that it was representative of the Republican Party’s lack of diversity. “It really sums up the diversity of the Republican Party, the RNC.
At the convention, they find the one Black person,” said comedian Dean Obeidallah.
Harris-Perry joked about Romney’s grandson marrying the child of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. The segment brought on a backlash from people like Sarah Palin, Scott Brown and conservative bloggers, demanding MSNBC apologize.

Whatever the intent, the segment proceeded in an unexpected way that was offensive. Without reservation or qualification, I apologize to the Romney family and to all families built on loving trans-racial adoptions.

Mitt Romney said the federal health care reform mandate constitutes a "tax" Wednesday, contradicting the way a senior adviser to his campaign characterized his position earlier this week.
But the similar individual mandate and fee he signed into law when governor of Massachusetts is not a tax, he said in a separate interview, citing the Supreme Court's decision last Thursday.
Of the federal law, Romney told CNN's Dana Bash and Shawna Shepherd, "Supreme Court is the final word, right? The highest court in the land? They said it's a tax didn't they?"
"So it's a tax, of course, if that's what they say it is," he continued.
Romney had first commented on the federal law in a CBS News interview Wednesday.
The high court last Thursday upheld the law's individual mandate – which requires individuals who can afford it to obtain coverage, or otherwise pay a fee collected by the Internal Revenue Service - under Congress' taxation power.
But it allowed states have broader powers, which Romney cited as the reason the Massachusetts fee is not a tax.
"States can implement penalties and mandates and so forth under their constitutions, which is what Massachusetts did," he said in the CBS interview. "But the federal government does not have those powers, and therefore for the Supreme Court to reach the conclusion it did – that the law was constitutional – they had to find it was a tax, and they did."
The Massachusetts law has been compared by some Republicans and Democrats alike to the federal law, but Romney has repeatedly rejected similarities. Romney has argued his law was a "state solution to a state problem" and has maintained he would move to repeal the federal law if elected president.
Eric Fehrnstrom, the senior adviser to Romney's campaign, said in a Monday interview that Romney thought the fee that will be generated by the federal law was not a tax despite the Supreme Court's ruling.
"He agreed with the dissent written by Justice Scalia which very clearly stated that the mandate was not a tax," Fehrnstrom said on MSNBC. And, when further questioned as to whether Romney agreed with Democrats, who have argued the mandate is not a tax, Fehrnstrom said "correct."
In the CBS News interview, Romney affirmed that he agreed with the dissent - the minority opinion of the high court – regarding the validity of President Obama's health care law but accepted that the majority opinion was law.
"I said that I agreed with the dissent and the dissent made it very clear that they felt it was unconstitutional. But the dissent lost," Romney said. "It's in the minority. And so now the Supreme Court has spoken, and while I agreed with dissent, it's taken over by the fact that the majority of the court said that it's a tax and therefore it is a tax."
Acknowledging the individual mandate as a tax also gave Romney an opportunity to criticize Obama over the law. This is the line of criticism most Republicans have taken since the ruling. Obama had said while campaigning that the mandate would not raise taxes.
"And the American people know that President Obama has broken the pledge he made," Romney said in the CBS interview. "He said he wouldn't raise taxes on middle income Americans."
David Axelrod, a senior adviser to Obama's reelection campaign, suggested in a tweet that Romney's different positions on the Massachusetts and federal laws were contradictory.
"Mitt: Fed freerider penalty is 'tax,' identical MA law is not. If he were in WH, parsley would be official veg: Twister, national pasttime," he posted.
In March, Fehrnstrom made headlines for saying in a CNN interview that the transition from the primaries to the general election was "almost like an Etch A Sketch. You can kind of shake it up, and we start all over again."
Romney's Republican rivals seized on the remark, suggesting that voters could not trust Romney not to change his views as November approached.
Later that day, Romney stepped before the microphones to clarify his campaign's position.
"Organizationally, a general election campaign takes on a different profile," Romney said. "The issues I am running on will be exactly the same. I am running as a conservative Republican. I was a conservative Republican governor. I will be running as a conservative Republican nominee, at that point hopefully, for president. The policies and positions are the same."
Earlier this week, GOP backer and Newscorp head Rupert Murdoch said in a tweet that Romney's staff could use some retooling.
"Tough O[bama] Chicago pros will be hard to beat unless he drops old friends from team and hires some real pros," Murdoch tweeted on Sunday.
Former GE CEO Jack Welch followed Murdoch's tweet with one of his own on Monday, saying he hoped "Mitt Romney is listening to Murdoch advice [on] campaign staff..playing in league with Chicago pols..No room for amateurs."
In her first solo endorsement of the 2012 cycle, Ann Romney has backed Utah Congressional candidate Mia Love.
The Romneys’ son Josh has already been vocal of his support for Love and Jason Chaffetz, a Utah Congressman, said last weekend in Utah that Josh and others there for the Romney donor retreat went to a fundraiser for Love.
“Women across the country are concerned for our children’s futures,” said Ann Romney in a written statement. “Will our children be able to find jobs and will they be faced with burdensome debt?
Mia’s record of reducing spending and making government more accountable to the taxpayers should be an example for Washington. With leaders like her, we can help ensure that our children and grandchildren have bright futures.”
If elected, Love, a fitness instructor and small town mayor, would become the first African American Republican woman in Congress.
But she will have to defeat six term Democrat Jim Matheson. It’s already one of the most watched Congressional races of 2012 and handicappers rate it a toss-up.
Recent polling in the state show Matheson with a solid lead at this point.
He’s actually one of the Democrats not attending this year’s Democratic National Convention in Charlotte.
It seems to make sense for a Democrat running in a ruby red state, but it’s important to note he has never attended since getting to Congress in 2000.
Uganda has announced a ban on 38 non-governmental organisations it accuses of undermining the national culture by promoting homosexuality.
Simon Lokodo, the country's ethics and integrity minister, claimed the NGOs were receiving support from abroad for Uganda's homosexuals and "recruiting" young children into homosexuality.
"I have established beyond reasonable doubt that the 38 NGOs, if not even more, exist not for humanitarian reasons but to destroy the traditions and culture of this country by promoting homosexuality," he said on Wednesday.
"We found that, on the pretext of humanitarian concerns, these organisations are being used to promote negative cultures.
They are encouraging homosexuality as if it is the best form of sexual behaviour."
The former Catholic priest said he believes the ban will come into a force next week. "If the NGOs continue to operate, they will be doing so illegally, they will be apprehended and will have to face a court of law."
A bill calling for harsher penalties and outlawing the "promotion" of homosexuality, including providing financial support to gays and lesbians, is pending in the east African country's parliament.
A previous bill called for the death penalty for repeat offenders, although the new version is expected to drop this clause after international condemnation of the proposal and threats to cut off aid.
Lokodo said: "Homosexuality is illegal, unacceptable and strange to our culture. It doesn't have any positive aspects at all.
If homosexuality is promulgated and legitimised, that will be like having no future of society. There is no procreation between man and man or woman and woman. We condemn it very strongly."
On Monday he ordered the break-up of a gay rights workshop organised by the East and Horn of Africa Human Rights Defenders Project at a hotel just outside the capital, Kampala.
Police wearing riot gear sealed off the venue for several hours. About 15 activists from Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya and Tanzania were questioned and later released without charge.
Police spokesman Idi Senkumbi told Reuters: "They were questioned on what exactly they were up to and the assembly they were involved in."
Amnesty International condemned the raid. "This ludicrous and senseless harassment of human rights activists has no basis in law whatsoever and has to stop," said Michelle Kagari, its deputy director for Africa.
"The continued persecution of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender rights activists by the Ugandan authorities is beginning to take on the sinister characteristics of a witch hunt."
Lokodo made a similar intervention in February when he stormed into a gay rights conference and tried to have one of the organisers arrested for insulting him.
Frank Mugisha, head of the NGO Sexual Minorities Uganda, said the minister's ban was part of a wider assault on civil society in Uganda. "The government is trying to use homosexuality to crack down on freedom of expression and freedom of assembly," he said. "If NGOs are closed down, they will not be able to support human rights.
"Simon Lokodo is very homophobic but it's coupled with politics. He's trying to gain popularity and make his name. The president should come out and distance himself from Lokodo."
Sexual Minorities Uganda would defy any ban, insisted Mugisha, winner of the Robert F Kennedy human rights award last year. "We are definitely continuing our operations and we will still hold conferences. We will continue to ask for the oppressive laws that are being used to intimidate us to be abolished.
"They have said they are going to pass the bill before October. That won't stop us. We shall continue to fight until all the legislation is cleared and we are free. Things are changing. It cannot be oppression forever."
Mohammad Ndifuna, the director of Human Rights Network Uganda, another of the organisations to be banned, told Reuters: "We know that they have been all kinds of threats coming towards the [NGO] sector for different reasons."
In May, Uganda threatened to de-register the British charity Oxfam over accusations it made of government involvement in violent land grabs in the country.
The Ugandan parliamentarian who first introduced an anti-gay bill that carried the death penalty for some homosexual acts reintroduced the bill on Tuesday, raising concerns among rights activists who have been fighting the legislation.
Parliamentarian David Bahati first introduced the bill in 2009 but it has never come before the full legislative body for a vote. Though widely supported in Uganda, the bill's progress apparently has been slowed by an international outcry against the bill, including condemnation from President Barack Obama.
Bahati has said that homosexuality poses a serious threat to family values and that his bill has helped raise public awareness about what he calls "the dangers to our children."

Bahati told The Associated Press last year that he is willing to drop the death penalty provision if that is the recommendation of a parliament committee, though a current reading of the bill hasn't been made public.
European countries such as Sweden and Britain have threatened to cut aid to Uganda if the bill is passed.
Homosexuality, already illegal under Uganda's penal code, is highly stigmatized in Uganda. Opinion polls frequently show the bill's wide support among Ugandans. Lawmakers other than Bahati have sometimes spoken passionately about the need for such a law, and none have condemned it.
The bill has been championed by Pentecostal clerics, who warn that young Ugandans are at risk of being indoctrinated into gay lifestyles by gays visiting from the U.S. and Europe. Even pastors who oppose the draft law do so not because it is draconian or unnecessary, but rather because they believe the police would not be able to enforce it.
"I've rejected it because it does not address Uganda's homosexuality problem," said Solomon Male, a Pentecostal cleric who has been dragged to court for accusing another pastor of sodomy. "The system can't permit any good law to be enforced."
Male said that an existing law against homosexuality, inherited from the colonial days, had not been enforced.
"It is a big problem-homosexuals are in our schools, in our churches, everywhere, and we don't even know where to start," he said. "Sensitization is the best."
Bahati's original bill carried harsh provisions. The original bill would mandate a death sentence for active homosexuals living with HIV or in cases of same-sex rape. "Serial offenders" also could face capital punishment, but the legislation did not define the term. Anyone convicted of a homosexual act would face life imprisonment.
Anyone who "aids, abets, counsels or procures another to engage of acts of homosexuality" would face seven years in prison. Landlords who rent rooms or homes to gays also could get seven years.
After apologizing for questioning whether military casualties could be labeled heroes, the dust is still settling over an MSBC host's comments that quickly set off a firestorm this Memorial Day weekend.
Chris Hayes, who hosts the Sunday program "UP with Chris Hayes," said in a long discussion on military service that he was "uncomfortable" with using the word "heroes" to describe those who die in combat.
"I think it's interesting because it is I think very difficult to talk about the war dead and the fallen without invoking valor, without invoking the words 'heroes'," he said Sunday.
He went on: "And why do I feel so (un)comfortable about the world 'hero'? I feel uncomfortable about the word 'hero' because it seems to me that it is so rhetorically proximate to justifications for more war."
His comments followed an interview with Lt. Col. Steve Beck, a former U.S. Marines Casualty Officer whose job was to notify the families of those who died in combat.
Naming his biases, however, Hayes on Sunday conceded he was speaking as a "liberal caricature of someone who doesn't have anyone serving in these wars" and "hasn't been personally affected by the deaths in the wars."
With the remarks coming one day before Memorial Day, the conservative blogosphere quickly lit up with disapproval, spiking the comments as insensitive and evidence of what they described as a liberal agenda to discredit American troops.
Newsbuster's Mark Finkelstein wrote that Hayes was "the human embodiment" of the word "effete." Breitbart's Kurt Schlichter characterized Hayes's views as an "object lesson in what our progressive elites really think about our military. And it's not much."
High-profile, far-right commentators also voiced their opinions, including Ann Coulter, who mockingly tweeted, "Chris Hayes 'Uncomfortable' Calling Fallen Military 'Heroes' - Marines respond by protecting his right to menstruate."
Veterans of Foreign Wars also made headlines when it released a strong statement hitting his comments as "reprehensible" and "disgusting."
"His words reflect his obvious disregard for the service and sacrifice of the men and women who have paid the ultimate price while defending our nation.
His insipid statement is particularly callous because it comes at a time when our entire nation pauses to reflect and honor the memory of our nation's fallen heroes," a statement from VFW national commander, Richard DeNoyer, said.
Following the outcry, Hayes issued a statement of apology Monday evening.
"In discussing the uses of the word 'hero' to describe those members of the armed forces who have given their lives, I don't think I lived up to the standards of rigor, respect and empathy for those affected by the issues we discuss that I've set for myself. I am deeply sorry for that," he wrote.
Hayes added that he was attempting on Sunday to delve into the disconnect between those who serve in the military versus civilians who enjoy the benefits of that service - and the apparent disconnect between the two groups on days like Memorial Day, when Americans traditionally take the day off and celebrate with activities like barbecues and cook-outs.
"But in seeking to discuss the civilian-military divide and the social distance between those who fight and those who don't, I ended up reinforcing it, conforming to a stereotype of a removed pundit whose views are not anchored in the very real and very wrenching experience of this long decade of war. And for that I am truly sorry," he stated.
As he noted in his apology, television pundits and hosts have been known to wade into tricky territory when emphatically voicing their opinions in rapid-fire discussions.
Howard Kurtz, host of CNN's "Reliable Sources" and The Daily Beast and Newsweek's Washington bureau chief, said while Hayes made a big mistake on air, his apology was appropriate.
"If there's a more insensitive comment that a television pundit could make on Memorial Day weekend than that fallen soldiers aren't heroes, I can't think of it. These are people who died in service of their country, even if the military policy was wrong or misguided. Chris Hayes did the right thing by fully apologizing," Kurtz said.
Others, meanwhile, came to Hayes's defense on Tuesday, saying the pundit was not being critical of the troops.
"I'm not sure he was criticizing those young men and women. He was just saying that the word is overused," NBC's Matt Lauer said on the "Today" show in a panel discussion about the controversy.
Conor Friedersdorf, a staff writer at The Atlantic, pointed to the controversy as an example of low-level dialogue about complicated topics on the national stage.
"Our public discourse is such that anyone can find him or herself viciously denounced by complete strangers based on a single sound-byte from which everyone extrapolates wildly.
This controversy is worth highlighting because Hayes' words and the reaction to them helps explain why so few broadcasters forthrightly discuss complicated, controversial subjects. Hayes subsequently issued an apology, but it's his critics who've behaved badly," he wrote.
