***** Dogs detect human decomposition in car of man arrested in case of missing girl Maleah Davis, 4

Trained dogs detected the scent of human decomposition in the car of a man arrested in connection with the puzzling disappearance of Maleah Davis, 4, outside Houston, a prosecutor said.

Derion Vence was in jail Sunday on a $1 million bond after he was arrested Saturday and charged with tampering with evidence – a human corpse. Vence is set to appear in court Monday.

Vence, 26, lived with Maleah’s mother, Brittany Bowens, and is believed to be the last person to see the girl before her disappearance more than a week ago.

Houston police said Maleah has not been found and the investigation is continuing. Authorities have declined to say whether they believe Vence killed the girl, but prosecutors said in court documents filed Saturday that Vence could face additional charges, including murder.

Police have said blood found in Vence’s apartment was linked to Maleah.

Vence initially told police he was assaulted by three men in a truck after stopping for a flat tire on the way to pick up Bowens at the airport on the night of May 4.

Vence said Maleah and his 2-year-old son were with him and they were all abducted by the three men, who knocked him unconscious.

When he came to the next day in Sugar Land, about 20 miles southwest of Houston, the girl was missing, Vence told police. He also said the Nissan Altima he was driving was stolen.

Police said surveillance video showed Vence getting dropped off at Methodist Sugar Land Hospital in the silver Altima last Sunday.

Police found the car in a parking lot Thursday.

At Vence’s probable cause court hearing Saturday night, Harris County prosecutor Pat Stayton said two dogs trained to find cadavers reacted to the trunk of the car.

“The dogs were responding to the scent of human decomposition in the vehicle,” Stayton said.

Surveillance video from a neighbor had shown Vence carrying a large, blue laundry basket with a large trash bag from his apartment on May 3, Stayton said. Vence returned three minutes later without the basket and later he was seen leaving the apartment with cleaning supplies, including bleach.

In the car, police found a laundry basket that looked like the one Vence took out of his apartment, Stayton said.

Police have described Vence as Maleah’s stepfather, but Bowens said through a spokesman that Vence is her former fiancé.

Child Protective Services removed Maleah and her brothers from the home Vence and Bowens shared in August after the girl sustained a head wound, but the children were returned in February, according to an agency spokeswoman.

The Houston Chronicle reported that Maleah’s grandmother, Brenda Bowens, had tried to get the kids placed at her home instead of in foster care when Child Protective Services conducted an investigation starting in August.

***** "I feel like they helped kill my child': Mother of 'drunk' teen found dead in hotel freezer hits out at the police department and hotel and claims she still hasn't been allowed to see her daughter's body"

• The body of 19-year-old Kenneka Jenkins was discovered in a hotel walk-in freezer the day after she went to a party in a hotel room with friends
• In one Facebook Live video from that night Jenkins can be seen listening to loud music inside a hotel room with a group of friends
• Her mother has given an interview lashing out at police officers and hotel staff
• She says if both parties took her more seriously and acted faster they may have found her daughter before she died
• Rosemont police have not said how she died or if foul play is suspected
• Her mother Tereasa Martin said her daughter would have had difficulty opening the freezer door alone if she was drunk
• She also said she has not yet been allowed to see her daughter's body

The mother of the 19-year-old girl found dead in a hotel freezer early Sunday morning insists foul play was involved and that authorities did not act fast enough to save her child.

Kenneka Jenkins' remains were found inside an industrial walk-in freezer at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Rosemont, a suburb of Chicago, around midnight on Sunday and more than 24 hours after she left home Friday night.

She left her house to head to a party with friends at around 11.30pm on Friday and was officially reported missing at 1.16pm Saturday.

Rosemont police say hotel staff discovered Jenkins inside the walk-in freezer by hotel staff, which was running and cold but not being used to store food.

'To me, I feel like they helped kill my child: the police department and this hotel,' Jenkins' mother Teresa Martin told CBS Chicago.

Martin explained that she believes neither the hotel's staff nor police officers took her pleas for help seriously when she realized her daughter had gone missing.

Jenkins was last seen at a party at the hotel early Saturday and she was reported missing later that afternoon. A text message was sent from her phone at 1.30am Saturday.

Her friends called her family at 4.30am when they could not find her.

Martin said she went to the police to attempt to file a police report, but that she was discouraged from doing so and instead told to wait it out.

FEDERAL GOV'T WANTS BLACK PEOPLE TO "SHACK UP" LIKE SLAVES, NOT LEGALLY MARRY

FEDERAL GOV'T WANTS BLACK PEOPLE TO "SHACK UP" LIKE SLAVES, NOT LEGALLY MARRY:

BLACK TRADITIONAL MARRIAGES ARE UNDER ATTACK.

BLACK CHILDREN NO LONGER HAVE POSITIVE IMAGES OF TRADITIONAL BLACK MARRIAGES.

In 21st century America BLACK Men and BLACK Women are no longer encouraged to LEGALLY Marry each other.

Instead it is becoming less common to see BLACK Men married to BLACK Women or BLACK Women married to BLACK Men.

However it has become increasingly common to see BLACK Men marry WHITE Women or to see BLACK Women marry WHITE Men.

In fact BLACK Men who marry BLACK Women often witness their BLACK Wives being Disrespected by mainstream American society.

The Federal govt also appears to reward BLACK Men and Women who choose to Co-habit (Shack-up) like SLAVES versus creating a LEGAL marriage relationship as Human Beings.

BLACK Traditional marriages are also being replaced with SAME-SEX marriages.

SAME-SEX Couples are not genetically, nor physically capable of  PROCREATING with one another.

As more and more Unemployed BLACK Men are INCARCERATED for not paying CHILD SUPPORT, what LEGACY is the BLACK community leaving for the next generation of BLACK Children as it relates to BLACK Traditional marriage and Strong BLACK Family units?

I am deeply concerned.

A National Coalition of Black Pastors and Christian Leaders has announced that they are holding a special Press Conference in Detroit, Michigan on September 23, 2014.

The Coalition will reveal a national strategy to combat court decisions overturning state laws protecting traditional marriage in partnership with the Thomas More Law Center, a national public interest law firm based in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
The Press Conference shall be held at 10am, in Dearborn Room 1, at the Marriott- Detroit Metro Airport, Romulus, Michigan 48174.

The Council, which has denounced gay marriage as "a threat to end western civilization as we know it," has also condemned the NAACP as a "morally bankrupt institution" that has "sold Black civil rights for gay rights," according to its spokesperson, Minister Stacy Swimp.

In 2012, the NAACP took an official position to endorse "gay marriage," by putting out a press release saying "we support marriage equality consistent with equal protection under the law provided under the 14th Amendment of the United States Constitution."

The NAACP has not recanted their position, in spite of the fact the overwhelming majority of Black Americans oppose gay marriage.

"How is it that the NAACP concludes that the 14th Amendment, which was created to guarantee the citizenship rights of Black Americans, is now meant to give license to a behavior which would devastate an already fractured institution in the Black community, which is the family?" says Pastor Danny Holliday, Founder and Pastor of Victory Baptist Church in Alton, Illinois.

"Every God fearing American has a moral obligation to renounce membership to this once proud organization that has clearly lost its moral compass."

The NAACP and other advocates of redefining marriage say that lesbians and homosexuals are "born gay" and should not be discriminated against because of how they were born.

The Coalition of Black Pastors and Christian leaders disagree.
"No one is created homosexual and forever condemned to being so.

That argument, in defense of gay marriage cannot be substantiated. I am living proof." says Evangelist Janet Boynes, a former lesbian who is one of the leaders of the Coalition.

"Therefore, to redefine marriage and, essentially, render the concept of family without true meaning, would be an action against the will of God and the best interest of nation, family, and person who has been deceived into thinking he or she is without hope of walking away from homosexuality."

The Coalition, represented by the Thomas More Law Center, of Ann Arbor, Michigan, has filed several briefs on behalf of the Coalition in the Circuit Court of Appeals and in the US Supreme Court.

"We pray that Federal judges shall uphold the rule of law and dismiss the wrongful assertion which says that so called gay marriage has association with the 14th Amendment, which was passed to guarantee the citizenship rights of Black Americans," says Pastor Emery Moss, Strictly Biblical, Detroit, Michigan.

"Nowhere in the U.S. Constitution does it indicate that equal justice under the law is related to gay marriage," says Bishop Samuel Smith, of the Apostolic World Christian Fellowship.

"Marriage, furthermore, was defined by God. Not by government. Government has no right to redefine marriage and destroy the meaning of family."

Bishop Smith concludes, "The Constitution provides us our civil, political, and religious freedom, in accordance with our God given rights.

The courts of the United States have a duty to the American people to uphold these God given rights and the Constitution."

RAHM EMANUEL INVOLVED IN COVER-UP OF LAQUAN MCDONALD'S MURDER

WHAT HAS MAYOR RAHM EMANUEL REALLY DONE FOR CHICAGO'S BLACK VOTERS?

In this video I discuss how Pres OBAMA'S close friend Chicago Mayor RAHM EMANUEL, may have played a significant role in the cover up in the Murder of LAQUAN MCDONALD who was shot 16 times in 2014 by a Chicago Police Officer.

When he died LAQUAN was a 17-yr old Foster Care kid.

Long before 17-yr old Laquan McDonald (Black, male Youth) was shot 16 times by Chicago police, he was a walking dead person.

Laquan's Mother, his troubled childhood and the Foster Care system in Ilinois were actually responsible for his premature death.

So although Laquan recently died due to SUICIDE BY COP, the Police should not be solely blamed for his Murder.

~ After Police Shooting in Chiacgo, Calls for Emanuel to Resign.

"A leader has to be held to account for the code of silence... in the Chicago police department," one civil rights lawyer says.

For nearly two years, he was the second-most powerful Democrat in Washington, a famously confrontational, joyously profane White House gatekeeper who traded in his job as the first black president's right-hand man to run for mayor of Chicago, their shared, beloved hometown.

Now, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, President Barack Obama's former chief of staff, is facing calls for his resignation amid disturbing questions on the latest and, arguably, most egregious, incident of police use of deadly force against an African American citizen.

Tuesday's release of a graphic video showing a white Chicago cop pumping 16 bullets into a black teenager will likely cast a pall over Obama's push to ease strained relations between police and the black community in cities nationwide, an issue he personally elevated to the national agenda last year.

Besides adding the Windy City to the ever-expanding list of places that which have become shorthand for deadly confrontations between police and African Americans:

Ferguson Missouri; Staten Island, New York; Cleveland; Baltimore -- the incident isn't a good look for the president.

Despite Emanuel's strained relations with the black community, Obama endorsed him for office during his first campaign in 2011, and Emanuel surged to office -- and to re-election in 2015 -- in part on the black vote.

Yet Obama's former top aide is suspected of helping police cover up the death of 17-year-old Laquan McDonald, the newest name in an issue that cuts to the heart of the black community.

When Officer Jason Van Dyke shot McDonald on a city street last year as police responded to reports of theft and vandalism in the area, police administrators and city officials "said things that were knowingly, demonstrably false within minutes of the shooting," says Craig Futterman, a Chicago civil rights lawyer who helped break open the case.

"A leader has to be held to account for the code of silence that continues to exist in the Chicago police department. He has to acknowledge it and address it," he says.

In a press conference Tuesday with Chicago Superintendent Garry McCarthy, Emanuel announced the city would release a long-sought video of the shooting, recorded on a dashboard camera in Van Dyke's police cruiser that night.

Both the mayor and the commissioner said they expect protests from an angry black community, but wouldn't tolerate violence; they also stressed that Van Dyke, who was charged with first-degree murder just days earlier, was a lone bad actor.

Demonstrators on the streets of downtown Chicago hours later, however, didn't seem to agree.

"While we know the system has failed, no one can specifically say how," city Alderman Roderick Sawyer told ABC-7, a local TV station. "You cannot change a system by ignoring a system."

The grainy, nighttime video -- which police and city authorities had refused to make public until a judge ordered it released by Thursday -- shows McDonald jogging past Van Dyke and other officers, a small knife in his hand.

Although McDonald doesn't appear to confront the officers, several of them draw weapons on him; Van Dyke opens fire within seconds, gunning McDonald down.

Although the young man lies motionless on the ground, Van Dyke continues to fire, emptying his 16-round clip.

When the gunfire ends, a second officer walks over to McDonald's body and kicks the knife from his hand. Although several officers are on the scene, no one gives first aid to McDonald.

Shortly after the shooting, Futterman says, the Chicago police released a statement declaring that McDonald was the aggressor, was under the influence of PCP and that Van Dyke shot once in self-defense.

Days later, however, a police whistleblower came to Futterman and independent investigative journalist Jamie Kalven with a tip: Authorities are withholding a videotape, trying to sweep an unjustified shooting under the rug.

After a year of legal wrangling with the department amid growing publicity about the shooting, Futterman says, a judge ordered the release of the dash-cam video from Van Dyke's cruiser -- a decision that triggered a series of rapid-fire developments in the case.

Under pressure, prosecutors who said they'd spent months on the investigation quickly charged Van Dyke with murder, Emanuel and McCarthy met with African American community leaders and braced the city for release of a potentially explosive piece of evidence.

"I believe this is a moment that can build bridges of understanding rather than become a barrier of misunderstanding," Emanuel said in Wednesday's press conference. "I understand that the people will be upset and will want to protest when they see this video. We as a city must rise to this moment."

While Van Dyke's attorney insists his client acted in self-defense, Emanuel says the officer will be held accountable for his actions.

But Futterman says the buck ultimately stops at Emanuel's desk: the mayor let linger a false narrative McDonald's death, didn't compel the police to release the video when reporters asked for it and neither he nor McCarthy have taken steps to demolish the department's wall of silence.

After the shooting, Futterman says, officers destroyed videos of the incident recorded at a nearby fast-food restaurant ("Ironically, other security videos show them doing this," he says), rounded up and intimidated a group of eyewitnesses into silence and used news reporters to feed disinformation to the public.

"All the evidence appears to point to it: That a lie was told to the media," Futterman says.

"No official corrected that lie. And there were actions on the part of multiple officers to intimidate witnesses, to destroy evidence and to lie."

On Twitter Wednesday, ‪#‎ResignRahm‬ was trending, and Futterman agrees the mayor himself must answer for "keeping people in the dark and letting lies be told on behalf of Chicago police officers to hang in the air."

While Futterman doesn't hesitate to call it a "coverup," he stops short of accusing Emanuel of direct involvement, although "it's a fair question" to ask what he knew, when he knew it and what he did to ensure justice in the case.

The mayor "has fallen far short in this case, and I think it's up to the voters to decide" whether he should continue to lead Chicago, Futterman says, noting Van Dyke is the only one who's clearly been punished.

"What about all these officers that participated in covering up what happened and intimidating witnesses?

That's criminal," Futterman says. "Heads need to roll because this has become the practice and culture that's established by leaders like Mayor Emanuel and Superintendent McCarthy."
"I'm too cynical to say I'm surprised" no one's been fired, Futterman says.

While the majority of the Chicago police rank-and-file do a fine job, he adds, the culture at the top "protects the minority of officers who are out there abusing people.

That's fundamentally what needs to change."

If that were actually addressed, he added, "there's a good chance [McDonald] would be alive."

BLACK OMAHA CURSING TODDLER UPDATE: He's In Protective Custody (Civil Rights Were Violated)

#ToddlerTHUG

UPDATE: CURSING BLACK OMAHA TODDLER MOCKED BY POLICE UNION IS NOW IN PROTECTIVE CUSTODY.

I repeat.

Posting a video of this Child's antics on a Police Union website was NOT about "Educating the Public"!

Instead it's about RACISM & perpetuating STEREOTYPES.

This Child's CIVIL RIGHTS were clearly VIOLATED.

#ToddlerTHUG

CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICES DOESN'T CARE ABOUT BLACK CHILDREN

The OMAHA, Nebraska CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICES claims to have been Monitoring a BLACK Family ("Toddler Thug's") since August of 2013.

So even though the Toddler's 16-year-old Mother was Shot in front of him & he too was Injured.....

CPS still chose to leave this Toddler in the Family home with 3 other Minor Children.

Why??

When it was apparent all Minor Children in this Family were in possible Danger, why didn't Omaha's CPS officials step him to remove these Children before now??

Yet when DON LEMON & the OMAHA Police Union expose what's going on in this Toddler's world and begins to question why CPS hasn't intervened, suddenly CPS steps in and removes all Minor Children from the home.

I've just described CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICE Agencies in EVERY State & County!

CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICES DOESN'T CARE ABOUT BLACK CHILDREN

ARTICLE: "Swearing Toddler In 'Thug' Video Taken Into Protective Custody"

A Nebraska toddler who repeated a slew of profanities in an online video has been taken into child protective custody, Omaha police said Wednesday.

While authorities found nothing criminal in the video, officials from the Omaha police's Child Victim Unit and the Nebraska Child Protective Services took the infant and three other children into custody on Wednesday, the police department said on its Facebook page.

The joint investigation found safety concerns, the statement said.

CNN learned of development through Twitter.

In the video, the diapered child is bombarded with obscenities and racial slurs by the adults around him.

The African-American toddler knocks down a chair and gives nearly as good as he gets, responding to some of the comments with an upraised middle finger and telling one of the adults at one point, "Shut up, bitch." The adults laugh and prompt him to repeat other crudities.

Just another day on the Internet -- until the police union in Omaha, Nebraska, posted the clip on its website to highlight what it called the "cycle of violence and thuggery" the community faces.

The Omaha Police Officers Association came under fire from the city's police chief, the ACLU and at least one community leader. They say the move needlessly antagonizes the city's minority communities, who make up about a quarter of Omaha's 409,000 residents.

Sgt. John Wells, the union's president, said the video was "disturbing" and "offensive."

"The focus here isn't on any particular ethnic group. The focus here is on the troubling behavior towards this child," Wells said. "This behavior is going to potentially lead this child down a path that is completely unhealthy."

On the website where the video is hosted, the union said the clip came from "a local thug's public Facebook page."

"We here at OmahaPOA.com viewed the video and we knew that despite the fact that it is sickening, heartbreaking footage, we have an obligation to share it to continue to educate the law abiding public about the terrible cycle of violence and thuggery that some young innocent children find themselves helplessly trapped in," the police union wrote in a post accompanying the video.

"Now while we didn't see anything in this video that is blatantly 'illegal,' we sure did see a lot that is flat out immoral and completely unhealthy for this little child from a healthy upbringing standpoint," it added.

Wells said one of the adults mentions a local street gang in the video.

"That is why when we talk about the culture, the criminal culture, that this is to try to break the cycle and deal with the culture of violence and the culture of gang activity," he said.

But in a city where police officers' treatment of minorities led to lawsuits, criminal charges against two officers and the firings and reassignments of several others in the past year, critics say the video is poking at raw wounds. Willie Hamilton, president of the community activist group Black Men United, said the union "crossed a line by doing this."

"For them to take a video out of context -- a 2-year-old who doesn't have the brain capacity to know what's going on -- and to say that this child, because two adults acted inappropriately, is going to end up in a life of crime is totally inappropriate," Hamilton said.

And the American Civil Liberties Union of Nebraska, which filed an excessive-force suit against the Omaha Police Department on behalf of an African-American family on Monday, said the union's use of "racially charged language" was "very disconcerting."

Police Chief Todd Schmaderer tried to distance his agency from the controversy in a statement issued Tuesday, saying that the union's website and Facebook page are separate from those of the Omaha Police Department and that he has little authority over the public statements of union members.

"With that background and understanding, I want to make it explicit and clear that the views expressed on the OPOA Facebook page do not necessarily reflect the official stance of the Omaha Police Department," Schmaderer said. "I strongly disagree with any postings that may cause a divide in our community or an obstacle to police community relations."

Wells said union members have turned the video over to the department's child victim unit, which will work with child-welfare agencies to investigate the circumstances. He said the organization "didn't think we'd get this big of a reaction."

"Hopefully, the impact is, it gives law-abiding citizens what law enforcement deals with on a daily basis, and it sort of throws back the blinders that these type of problems are going on," he said. "And we can have a very frank and open discussion on how to tackle these issues and come up with solutions."

OMAHA Police Union Post Video Of BLACK Toddler Cursing & Flipping The Bird (It's Plain RACISM!)

#ToddlerTHUG

OMAHA "TODDLER THUG"?? Let's be real!

The ONLY reason why this BLACK Omaha Toddler's Profanity-laced antics were posted online by a POLICE UNION is due to RACISM plain & simple!!

IT'S NOT ABOUT EDUCATING THE PUBLIC......IT'S RACISM.

Posting such a video online is actually a Violation of this Toddler's CIVIL RIGHTS!

FYI: By the way No CHILD ABUSE Charges were filed against the Toddler's Family members.

Hamilton said the statement was too little, too late. Schmaderer was speaking out only "because this thing is on the Internet and went viral," he said.

"What do you think it's going to do about the trust level? You think we're going to call you and tell you anything? No. All this is doing is highlighting that."

MELISSA HARRIS-PERRY Strongly Urged Show Panel To Be "Funnier" For Ratings (Mocking ROMNEY'S BLACK Infant Grandson)

#ROMNEY

MELISSA HARRIS-PERRY strongly urged her show panel to be "Funnier" for Ratings. (Mocking MITT ROMNEY'S BLACK Grandson)

But her Partisan Showbiz tactic Backfired!

Now her BRAND is in Peril.

ARTICLE: "Comedians Told To Be Funnier Before Joke About Romney's Adopted Black Grandson"

MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry chastised her guests for being too serious just before the controversial segment about former Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney's adopted black grandson.

She told viewers the panel of comedians would "be forced to drink during the commercial so they can get their funny back."

Harris-Perry would tearfully apologize for the resulting jokes a week later.

"My intention was not malicious, but I broke the ground rule that families are off limits, and for that I am sorry," Harris-Perry said Saturday.

The apology comes weeks after MSNBC host Martin Bashir lost his job because of remarks about former GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin.

Controversial comments by journalists about an American politician's family are not new. Harry Truman threatened physical violence against a Washington Post critic who famously wrote in 1950 that the president's daughter "cannot sing very well."

While Margaret Truman put herself into the public eye with her performance, Romney's grandson Kieran James only sat on his grandfather's lap for a family Christmas card photograph. And this instance involved race.

Harris-Perry asked her panelists to come up with captions for the photo of Romney, his wife and their 21 grandchildren, all white except for Kieran.

Comedic actress Pia Glenn sang a Sesame Street song: "One of These Things Is Not Like the Others."

Comedian Dean Obeidallah joked that the photo "really sums up the diversity of the Republican Party."

Harris-Perry described the baby as "gorgeous" and suggested Kieran could someday marry North West, the daughter of Kanye West and Kim Kardashian. "Can you imagine Mitt Romney and Kanye West as in-laws?" she joked.

Unlike Truman and the critic, Romney quickly forgave Harris-Perry. "People make mistakes, and the folks at MSNBC made a big mistake and they apologized for it," Romney said in an interview on "Fox News Sunday." "They apologized for it. That's all we can ask for."

Daily Beast political columnist Sally Kohn, a guest Sunday on CNN's "Reliable Sources," blamed the growing competitiveness and immediacy of media today for the increase in such incidents.

"There's always this incentive to say something that's newsworthy, attention-getting, but it's real easy to cross the line into offensive and stupid," Kohn said. "And that's a split-second judgment sometimes."

Harris-Perry, who is a political science professor at Tulane University, was surrounded by four comedians and no professional journalists. The live, unscripted show, which she said was her second annual "Look Back in Laughter" edition, seemed more like a night at the improv than a cable news program.

"This is the show where we dispense with the serious and sober coverage of the year in politics," she promised viewers. They would look back on "some of the political absurdity of 2013 with the ridicule and mockery it so rightly deserves."

Harris-Perry delivered an opening monologue loaded with obvious sexual puns about the Anthony Weiner sexting scandal.

Comedian Judy Gold joked about Sen. Ted Cruz, saying it was scary that the Texas Republican had daughters. Other comments came about the daughters of "rich, white Republicans."

The mandate for more punch lines was made clear by Harris-Perry after one somewhat serious segment.

"My comedians are all going to be forced to drink during the commercial so they can get their funny back because they've got real serious about sexism and feminism," the host said.

"We are basically ratings whores," Harris-Perry added.

Politico media reporter Dylan Byers said the MSNBC brand has been damaged by these controversies, considering the channel was "supposed to elevate the discourse" with smart, well-educated progressives who "lean forward."

"It's leaning backward and it's totally, it's not what MSNBC, I think, was supposed to be about originally, and I think it's doing real, severe damage to the brand," Byers said on CNN's "Reliable Sources."

Boston radio host Callie Crossley told "Reliable Sources" that Harris-Perry's brand has been damaged by the controversy as well. "Her brand is to exactly be on top of the kind of ignorant and other kind of racist commentary."

The Society of Professional Journalists has a code of ethics that says journalists should "use special sensitivity when dealing with children" and "show good taste." Students learn it in most journalism schools.

But the rule book in the rough-and-tumble world of politics and media is an unwritten common law of precedents that evolves partly through apologies, resignations and firings.

Harris-Perry's Apology makes one rule clear: the kids are off limits.

DON LEMON vs MSNBC: "MSNBC Is A "Smug Liberal Club Of Mean, Condescending People"......I CONCUR!

"CNN’s Don Lemon Tears Into ‘Smug,’ ‘Mean’ MSNBC Over Romney Grandson Segment"

CNN anchor Don Lemon had some tough words for his competitors at MSNBC Monday night during a discussion about Melissa Harris-Perry and her panel poking fun at a crowded Mitt Romney family photo with his young black grandson.

Lemon used the opportunity to vent about the liberal network, calling it “smug” and unwilling to entertain actual diversity of opinion.

Republican Ana Navarro agreed with Lemon that it was in bad taste to use the child to mock the Romneys, but Marc Lamont Hill argued that they didn’t actually make fun of the baby itself, just used it to make a point about diversity in the Romney family and the GOP.

Lemon wondered if Hill would react the same way if the same segment aired on Fox. Navarro predicted, “By now, Jesse Jackson would be protesting and tied to a tree somewhere.”

Lemon then took on the “crowd” at MSNBC that’s given him lots of flak for comments he’s made on issues of race specifically. Lemon explained he’s never bothered responding because “dogs are supposed to howl at the moon, the moon doesn’t howl back.” He called MSNBC a “smug” club where despite touting diversity, there is “no diversity of opinion” on the network.

Hill agreed that “pockets” of MSNBC are “smug and condescending,” but Lemon continued on to dismiss the network as an insular den of liberalism where people are “saying mean, smug things about people who… may disagree with them.”

MITT ROMNEY'S Grandchild vs MELISSA HARRIS-PERRY: Melissa Was Wrong!! (Partisan Hypocrite)

#RomneysGrandchild

MSNBC Show Host & Professor MELISSA HARRIS-PERRY was dead Wrong to recently Mock MITT ROMNEY'S BLACK Grandchild on-air.

If nothing else it was done so in poor taste.

Isn't Professor MELISSA HARRIS-PERRY a Bi-racial Woman??

So why pick on an Innocent BLACK Child who was adopted by a WHITE Family??

As long as the Child is being LOVED & well cared for, RACE should NOT matter.

Thus Professor MELISSA HARRIS-PERRY has proven herself to be a Partisan HYPOCRITE!!

By the way....

Tweeting an "APOLOGY" is Not enough.

She needs to go on the air and offer a Former APOLOGY.

First ED SCHULTZ....next MARTIN BASHIR, and now Professor MELISSA HARRIS-PERRY.

I say it's high time for MSNBC Execs to rethink their Show Line -Up.

Both AL SHARPTON & MELISSA HARRIS-PERRY'S Shows need to be re-evaluated.

Melissa Harris-Perry Apologizes To Romney Family

MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry apologized in a series of tweets Tuesday morning for using Mitt Romney's black adopted grandchild in a comedy segment over the weekend.

"I am sorry. Without reservation or qualification. I apologize to the Romney family," the apology started. "I work by guiding principle that those who offend do not have the right to tell those they hurt that they (are) wrong for hurting. Therefore, while I meant no offense, I want to immediately apologize to the Romney family for hurting them."

Each tweet of the apology came with the hashtag:

#MHPApology

"As (a) black child born into large white Mormon family I feel familiarity w/ Romney family (picture) & never meant to suggest otherwise," she continued. "I apologize to all families built on loving trans-racial adoptions who feel I degraded their lives or choices."

In the segment, part of an hour taking a comedic look at 2013, Harris-Perry pulled up a Romney family photo with the newly adopted grandson, who is Black, sitting on Mitt Romney's knee.

One panelist, actress Pia Glenn, sang “one of these things is not like the other” with another joking that it was representative of the Republican Party’s lack of diversity. “It really sums up the diversity of the Republican Party, the RNC.

At the convention, they find the one Black person,” said comedian Dean Obeidallah.

Harris-Perry joked about Romney’s grandson marrying the child of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. The segment brought on a backlash from people like Sarah Palin, Scott Brown and conservative bloggers, demanding MSNBC apologize.

Update 12 p.m.:

Harris-Perry has also posted an apology on MSNBC.com, in which she said the point of featuring the photo was to celebrate it:

On Sunday’s program, we showed a photo of Governor Romney holding his adopted grandson, who is African-American.

The intent of featuring the photo was to celebrate it — I often speak to the issue of the increasingly diverse American family.

Whatever the intent, the segment proceeded in an unexpected way that was offensive. Without reservation or qualification, I apologize to the Romney family and to all families built on loving trans-racial adoptions.

George W. Bush Visits Africa & Hugs BLACK Children; Romney Would NEVER Do That!

Former President Bush and wife Laura visit Africa to promote initiative to fight cervical, breast cancer

George W. Bush and Laura Bush wrapped up a week-long trip to Africa Friday, where they visited Zambia and Botswana promoting an initiative to fight cervical cancer and breast cancer in the countries.

As part of the charity initiative the Bushes helped open medical centers providing cancer screenings, visited sick children at an orphanage, and met with Peace Corps members, according to the George W. Bush Presidential Center.

The couple returned to Texas on Friday, Bush's 66th birthday. Dozens of photos from the trip were recently released on the Center's website.

The Bushes spent Independence Day in Lusaka, Zambia at the University Teaching Hospital, announcing a new health research center. "On our country's birthday, it is important to remember the blessings of freedom and the blessings of being an American, and to give back," Bush said during remarks at the hospital, according to the website.

The $3 million women's health initiative, called Pink Ribbon Red Ribbon, is a partnership between the George W. Bush Institute, the U.S. President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief, UNAIDS and Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

Since leaving office the former president has turned his attention to health issues in Africa -- which he calls a "labor of love" -- raising some $85 million for cervical cancer programs, Catholic Online reported.

Zambia has the second highest number of cervical cancer cases in the world, and many of the women are also living with HIV.

"The saddest thing of all is to know a lady's life has been saved from AIDS but died from cervical cancer," Bush said in a statement announcing the health program.

During his presidency, Bush launched an initiative to fight HIV/AIDS in sub-Sahara Africa.

Battleground 2012: Will black voters put Obama over the top again in North Carolina?

“Swing state” is something North Carolinians have been hearing a lot lately. There’s no avoiding the importance the campaigns of both President Obama and his presumptive challenger Mitt Romney place on the state and its 15 electoral votes. As tightening polls and numerous candidate visits suggest, predicting the November result is not easy.

But for the president to repeat his surprising 2008 win here – by a slim, just over 14,000-vote margin – he will have to target, expand on and get out his strongest base. That would be minority, particularly African American, voters.

What will it take for the president to make North Carolina swing his way in November? Will the Democrats’ decision to hold their national convention in Charlotte, the state’s largest city, affect enthusiasm and turnout? How much does the president’s 2012 success depend on the rise of North Carolina’s minority population? And will the economy trump everything?

“A lot of politics is demographics these days, more than ever,” said David Bositis, senior research associate at the Washington-based Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies.

Bositis, who studies minority political engagement, pointed to a change that is happening in North Carolina and across the country. He told me that the white working class, a group Obama has had trouble appealing to, “is really shrinking in the country,” while the number of non-white voters is growing.

According to census figures, between 2000 and 2010 the Hispanic population in North Carolina more than doubled (to slightly more than 800,000) and the black population rose almost 20 percent (to two million) out of a total of more than nine and a half million residents. Some are African Americans moving or returning to the South, for economic and cultural reasons, in what has been called a “reverse migration.”

In a record 2008 turnout, African-Americans made up 23 percent of voters here, with 95 percent favoring Obama. In exit polls, an astounding 100 percent of black women in North Carolina reported voting for the president. Obama won just 35 percent of the white vote, but he also did well overall among young and college-educated voters of all races here.

Of the voters who helped the president become the first Democrat to win the state since Jimmy Carter in 1976, “The only way those numbers will improve will be based upon population change,” said Bositis. “It’s going to depend upon the degree to which the Obama campaign decides to put resources into North Carolina,” he said.

He added, “If he does do that, if he does have a very good ground game … they will go out of their way to register as many young people, black people and Hispanic people as they can.”

“The question is ‘how energized is each candidate’s base?’” said LaTonya M. Williams, assistant professor at Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte.

Will race matter? While Bositis said, “In Southern states, you would be foolhardy to assume that race doesn’t play any role,” he added that it matters less in a business-oriented, diverse state such as North Carolina. “Obama’s not going to bring up race; his campaign has to focus on the economy. It would be a distraction, and not a welcome distraction.”

The appeal to African-Americans may be subtle, but it’s there. The Obama campaign has opened 16 offices throughout the state, with more expected, and has organized phone banks and voter registration efforts – with a parade of celebrities offering encouragement. At a Charlotte event this year, volunteers were pumped up by Keshia Knight Pulliam, all grown up from The Cosby Show, and former Obama personal aide Reggie Love, who with his Duke basketball background brings his own state ties. Actress Angela Bassett spoke at a North Carolina Women for Obama event in Fayetteville earlier this month.

Going to the source of political and other kinds of conversation was the thinking behind the state campaign’s B&B (that’s barber shop and beauty parlor) program, where patrons can pick up voter registration forms along with a haircut.

“It’s a cornerstone of every community,” said Don Johnson, who hosted an event at his Nu-U Barbershop and Hair Salon in Charlotte on a recent Saturday. “People go there; if they’re not getting services, they take their kids there.” He told me that “when you’re in barber college, they tell you there are three things you don’t talk about – religion, personal stuff and politics. But politics is a major part of the conversation.”

He added, “We’ve been supporting Obama for a while. He’s done a good job for veterans, in health care and looking out for the small businessman, which is good for me. There’s more urgency for the second campaign than the first one.”

The president and first lady have made several stops in North Carolina, with Michelle Obama bringing a “Let’s Move!” event to Charlotte in March, during the 100th anniversary of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA). In May, she gave the commencement address for North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro.

In September, the Obamas will return for the Democratic convention in Charlotte, where the city’s second African American mayor, Anthony Foxx, will host, with advisory assistance from Harvey B. Gantt, architect, community leader and, in the 1980s, the city’s first African American mayor.

“The convention will give them a boost in terms of publicity, assuming everything goes well,” said Bositis. In 2008, Obama built up big early-voting leads in Charlotte’s Mecklenburg County that countered North Carolina election-day results, which he actually lost.

Obama’s support of same-sex marriage, thought by some to cause a rift between the president and conservative black voters, has so far not seemed to affect support for him.

With the support of black voters, a May amendment to the North Carolina constitution defining marriage between one man and one woman as the only domestic legal union passed overwhelmingly. Yet, as Dwayne A. Walker, pastor at Charlotte’s Little Rock AME Zion Church, told me, though he believes “God intends for men to marry women and women to marry men,” he was against the amendment, which he felt had “unintended consequences,” and he is for Obama.

“I’m an avid Democrat, and will be supporting him again,” Walker said.

When it comes to Obama’s chances of 2012 success, what matters most may not be the number of new voters his campaign can sign up or the amount of enthusiasm a September speech in Bank of America stadium can generate, but the unemployment rate. Right now, in North Carolina, it stands at 9.4 percent, above the national 8.2 percent.

“It’s going to be tough,” said Bositis.
