President Obama Extends the Olive Branch to Cuba & Latin America!

While attending the Summit of Americas conference in Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago on Friday President Obama sought to mend Foreign Policy relations between Cuba and Latin America with those countries' leaders.

The purpose of the Summit of Americas conference is to bring together the Heads of State and Government of the Western Hemisphere to discuss common concerns, seek solutions and develop a shared vision for their future development of the region, be it economic, social or political in nature.

Despite the fact that Cuba was the only nation at the summit without representation, President Obama still chose to extend the Olive Branch of Peace to both Cuba and President Chavez's region, while vowing to lift embargo restrictions.
This includes opening up trade in the near future.

He also stated he would do away with travel restrictions between the United States and Cuba.

To seal this deal President Chavez of Venezuela and President Raul Castro of Cuba, are both expected to reciprocate the good will currently being offered to them by the United States.

To help ease alarm and skepticism from Cuban-Americans concerned about Cuba's Communist past, going forward President Obama has promised to engage with the Cuban Government on Human Rights, Freedom of Speech, Democratic Reform, Drugs, Immigration and the Economy.

If you recall I posted a story last week about some members of the Black Congressional Caucus who traveled to Cuba to meet with President Raul Castro.

Those congressional delegates are now waiting for a meeting to brief President Obama on their dialogue with Castro and other Cuban Officials.

At the Summit of Americas conference President Obama states "The United States seeks a new beginning with Cuba".
