Romney Vs Obama: Poll Results Are Rigged?? Media Lies!
Mitt Romney Trails Obama in New Poll That Completely Contradicts Poll from Two Days Ago
Forget everything you learned from Tuesday’s ABC-Washington Post poll, as a more recently released Reuters/Ipsos survey completely contradicts it. Earlier this week, you’ll recall, Mitt Romney appeared to poll more favorably than Barack Obama among registered voters. (In a survey of both unregistered and registers voters, the two were tied.)
However, a new survey of adults both registered and non-, released today, shows that Romney trails Obama by 13 points, 51 to 38.
So what could explain the discrepancy?
The ABC-Washington Post poll was conducted on June 2 through 5, while the Reuters/Ipsos respondents were surveyed on June 3 through 6. So, airtight deductive reasoning tells us that something must have happened on June 2 that would have increased Romney’s popularity and/or decreased Obama’s, or something must have happened on June 6 that reflected well on Obama and/or poorly on Mitt Romney. (Eat your heart out, Nate Silver.)
On June 6, both Obama’s and Mitt Romney’s Twitter feeds posted photos of the politicians eating conspicuously inexpensive food in down-home settings: Obama ate a hot dog at a celebrated local hot-dog place in Toledo, Ohio, with the city’s mayor; in Manhattan, Romney ate unidentifiable beige mush in what looks like Central Park before heading to a $2,500-per-plate fund-raiser hosted by a hedge-funder at the Mandarin Oriental hotel on Columbus Circle.
