Bev Perdue Told To Resign By "Restore America" Extremist Group

Bev Perdue Receives Letter From Anti-Government Group

Gov. Bev Perdue's office received a letter from an anti-government group that is calling on sitting governors to resign.

Early in the week, Perdue's office spotted the letter from the Guardians of the free Republics, which seeks to "restore America" by peacefully dismantling parts of the government, the Associated Press reports.

The letters do not include threats of violence, but called on the governors to leave office within three days or be removed.

The FBI warned Perdue's office that it might be getting a letter, Perdue
spokeswoman Chrissy Pearson told Dome. When it arrived, Perdue's constituent services staff notified her security team.

"They take every threat, no matter how small or large, very seriously," Pearson said. "They stepped in immediately."

The FBI has warned that the letters might be used as a justification by others for violence.

And for the record, Pearson confirmed that Perdue is not resigning.
