ROSEANNE'S RACIST TWEET REVEALS SHE FORGOT WHAT ERA WE ARE NOW LIVING IN

ROSEANNE'S RACIST TWEET REVEALS SHE FORGOT WE ARE NOW LIVING IN A NEW ANTI-RACISM ERA:

JIM CROW RACISM IS NO LONGER TOLERATED OR COMICAL.......NEVER SHOULD HAVE BEEN.

SEXUAL HARASSMENT & ABUSE AGAINST WOMEN IS NO LONGER TOLERATED OR COMICAL........NEVER SHOULD HAVE BEEN.

EVERY MEDIA NETWORK NEEDS TO ADAPT STARBUCKS' ANTI-RACISM TRAINING MODEL FOR ALL EMPLOYEES, INCLUDING CELEBRITIES.

ABC WAS ABSOLUTELY CORRECT TO CANCEL ROSEANNE'S NEW SHOW.

TWEETING SUCH RACIST RHETORIC WAS DUMB & IRRESPONSIBLE.

THE BLACK VOTE IS STILL EXTREMELY VALUABLE.

****** Roseanne Barr Crosses a Line, and ABC Draws One

There is, it turns out, a line. Early Tuesday morning, Roseanne Barr crossed it. And within half a day, ABC, though Ms. Barr had given the network its biggest hit of the past season, enforced it.

First, the comedian and star of the revived “Roseanne” leveled a dehumanizing insult at Valerie Jarrett, calling the African-American former adviser to Barack Obama the offspring of “muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes.” Then she tried to pass off the slur, by way of halfhearted apology, as a “joke” — as if, somehow, a racist joke were any better than a racist statement.

Here’s the sad thing. Ms. Barr’s tweet, while shocking, was not unbelievable. What was truly surprising was that a commercial TV network took action against a valuable star, quickly and definitively, and in plain words.

“Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show,” the ABC entertainment president, Channing Dungey, said in a statement.

You could criticize ABC for working with Ms. Barr, who has a long history of offenses, especially since she joined Twitter. You could argue that the network was just trying to stave off bad publicity or boycotts. You could wonder if behind-the-scenes troubles or declining ratings (common to many TV revivals) played a role.

But credit where due: ABC canceled its highest-rated show, a linchpin of its fall schedule, as a stand against its star’s racism. That decision will probably cut into the network’s advertising profits. There may be no perfect moral actors in this world, but that’s still a moral action.

As we’ve seen with #MeToo, which has taken figures like Louis C. K. and Matt Lauer off TV, this is the sort of decision that corporations in our society often make more quickly and punitively than voters. But it is not a step you can take for granted.

Take Donald Trump. Forget his statements as president or on the “Access Hollywood” bus. He began peddling the birther slur — that Mr. Obama, the first black president, was not born in the United States — while the fourth “Celebrity Apprentice” was on NBC. The network kept him as host for three more seasons, and aired one more on which he was executive producer.

In 2013, the “Duck Dynasty” star Phil Robertson gave an interview likening “homosexual behavior” to bestiality and suggesting that black people in the South were more content before the civil rights movement. The A&E network suspended him for nine days before reversing its decision, less a slap than a tap on the wrist.

The “Roseanne” decision, on the other hand, will come at a price for ABC — and like any such step, will have collateral costs. In a Twitter post, Sara Gilbert, Ms. Barr’s co-star and an executive producer of the revival, deplored Ms. Barr’s comments as “abhorrent.” She added that the series was “separate and apart from the opinions of one cast member.”

There’s some truth to that last comment. “Roseanne,” the revival, was imperfect but complicated, trying to engage with important if volatile issues. At times, it had ugly racial overtones, including a snide swipe at ABC’s sitcoms about “black and Asian families” and references to “illegals.” At other times the show pushed back against her character, or even ridiculed her.

But finally, none of that matters. “Roseanne” is a story. The issue here was the real act of a real person, saying the sort of thing that leads to real corrosion in the real world when it becomes normalized.

Make no mistake: The “Roseanne” decision would also have been expensive if ABC hadn’t canceled the show. It’s just that the costs would have been borne, as they generally are, by vulnerable people whose tormentors would be emboldened by seeing someone famous and powerful get away with it.

For that matter, it would insult people in small towns like the Lanford, Ill., of “Roseanne” — towns like the one I grew up in — for a TV network to imply that the only way to represent them is by indulging racism.

The character Roseanne said something like that a quarter-century ago, when her son was reluctant to kiss a black girl in a school play. “I didn’t raise you to be some little bigot!” she told him. “Black people are just like us. They’re every bit as good as us, and any people who don’t think so is just a bunch of banjo-pickin’, cousin-datin’, barefoot embarrassments to respectable white trash like us!”

Corporations involved in controversies like this usually simply want them to disappear. This one, because “Roseanne” has long since been drafted into the culture war, probably won’t.

Even if the president, who praised “Roseanne” to his supporters as being “about us,” doesn’t weigh in, even if Ms. Barr herself stays off Twitter, recent history tells us people will seize on the opportunity to say that the p.c. thought police are repressing us, because a rich woman lost her job for calling a black woman an ape. ABC will have picked a side regardless.

At least it picked the right one here. The battle against bigotry is not just about bigots. It’s about those who reap the benefits of ignoring bigots, and still think they should be able to call themselves good people. When an institution like ABC takes a stand — in prime time, where people notice it — that matters.

I’ll be cynical again tomorrow. For now I’m glad that a corporation had an opportunity to think only of its bottom line, and chose to draw a line instead.

DAVID HOGG vs FOX NEWS BULLY LAURA INGRAHAM (FIRE HER)

DAVID HOGG vs FOX NEWS BULLY LAURA INGRAHAM:

FOLLOWING HER PUBLIC ATTACK ON HOGG, INGRAHAM IS NOW LOSING SPONSORS.

WHY WOULD A GROWN, EDUCATED WOMAN ATTACK A 17-YR OLD TEENAGER WHO WITNESSED HIS FRIENDS DIE??

LAURA INGRAHAM SHOULD BE FIRED.

TIME FOR FOX NEWS TO CLEAN HOUSE.

****** How an ill-advised tweet became a nightmare for a Fox News show

A little over a month ago, David Hogg was like any other high school senior anxiously awaiting college acceptance letters.

Then, on Feb. 14, he witnessed the deaths of 17 of his classmates at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.

Since then, he has graced the cover of Time Magazine, organized a march attended by hundreds of thousands of individuals demanding gun reform and gained a massive following of 667,000 on Twitter.

Despite becoming a household name pretty much overnight, Hogg is still a 17-year-old who plans to attend college.

According to an interview with TMZ on Tuesday, Hogg received rejection letters from the four University of California campuses where he submitted applications —UCLA, UCSD, UCSB and UC Irvine. He has a 4.2 GPA and an SAT score of 1270.

The following day, Laura Ingraham, host of Fox News’ evening program, “The Ingraham Angle,” retweeted a piece from the conservative news site, The Daily Wire, adding her own commentary — “David Hogg Rejected By Four Colleges To Which He Applied and whines about it. (Dinged by UCLA with a 4.1 GPA… totally predictable given acceptance rates.)”

The power of Twitter

Hogg, fully aware of how powerful he has become, has been encouraging his followers to tweet at brands that advertise on the show. And since Ingraham’s initial tweet, at least 16 companies have pulled their ads. Rachael Ray’s Nutrish was the first brand to sever ties. StitchFix (SFIX), Expedia (EXPE), TripAdvisor (TRIP), Wayfair (W), Johnson & Johnson (JNJ), NestlĂ© USA (NESN), Hulu, Office Depot (ODP), The Atlantis, Paradise Resort, Honda (HMC), Liberty Mutual, Progressive insurance (PGR), Jenny Craig and the global investment group Principal followed suit.

On Thursday, after advertisers had already begun to distance themselves from the show, Ingraham issued an apology, retracting her original attack on Hogg: “Any student should be proud of a 4.2 GPA —incl. @DavidHogg111. On reflection, in the spirit of Holy Week, I apologize for any upset or hurt my tweet caused him or any of the brave victims of Parkland.”

Responsibility to share both sides of a story’
Hogg said he does not accept her apology. “She’s only apologizing after a third of her advertisers pulled out, and I think it’s really disgusting that she basically tried promoting her show after ‘apologizing’ to me. I think it’s wrong and if she really wants to do something, she can cover things like inner city violence and the real issues that we have in America. I know she’s a talk show host, but she also has a responsibility to show both sides of a story,” he said during an interview on CNN’s New Day.

“Atlantis does not support or agree with the recent comments made by television broadcaster Laura Ingraham. Although we are an organization that believes in freedom of expression, we do not condone discrimination, bullying, mockery or harmful behavior of any kind. As a result of these events, we have decided to remove all brand advertising tied to the program,” an official Atlantis spokesperson told Yahoo Finance.

Prior to the era of social media, brands would have had to release official statements on their websites and wouldn’t necessarily be subject to immediate criticism. That’s no longer the case with Twitter. Now, critical decisions made by companies can be discovered via one-off responses to everyday users.

StitchFix responded to a user who threatened to stop buying clothes from the monthly subscription program, saying “We appreciate our clients’ feedback on this, and we can confirm we’re no longer advertising on Laura’s show.”

Progressive watchdog Media Matters compiled a list of Ingraham’s 100+ sponsors, including Bayer, NutriSystem, Choice Hotels, Arby’s, Cars.com, DirecTV, Duracell, Esurance, Honda, IBM, and Kayak, to name just a few.

Are boycotts effective? It depends
“I think it’s great that corporate America is standing with me and the rest of my friends because when you come against any one of us, whether it be me or anybody else, you’re coming against all of us,” Hogg told CNN. “I think it’s important that we stand together as both corporate and civic America to take action against these people and show them that they cannot push us around, especially when all we’re trying to do here is save lives.”

“The issue needs to be gun violence in America, but what she’s trying to do is distract from that and I hate it,” he added.

This is not the first time Ingraham has been in hot water. Just last month, she faced significant pushback and criticism after she publicly said that Lebron James should stay out of politics and “shut up and dribble.”

Ingraham announced on her show Friday night that she would be taking a week off, with plans to resume on April 9.

The efficacy of boycotts against Fox News has had mixed results. While this movement is akin to the demise and ultimate cancellation of The O’Reilly Report last April, Bill O’Reilly had much graver problems than a single controversy. Nearly 60 companies withdrew their advertisements following a New York Times report on five sexual harassment settlements by O’Reilly and Fox News. While much of the momentum was on social media, it was much harder for the company to defend his egregious behavior than stand by an anchor for an offensive tweet.

Ingraham is likely hoping this movement would resemble the fleeting backlash against her colleague, Sean Hannity. Hannity endorsed Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore, who reportedly made several sexual advances toward underage girls. Many advertisers, including Keurig, Realtor.com and Volvo deleted tweets that stated they would be pulling ads.

As The Washington Post aptly pointed out, “At any given time, someone is probably trying to boycott a Fox News show for something.”

CHAIN MIGRATION IS BACK DOOR ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION; IT IS STILL A CRIME

CHAIN MIGRATION IS BACK DOOR ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION:

TRUMP SAYS NO DACA DEAL WITH CHAIN MIGRATION.

OTHER COUNTRIES IMPRISON MOST ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS NOT REWARD THEM.

Sources: CNN, Texas Tribune, Twitter, Youtube

******* What is 'chain migration' and how could it disrupt a DACA deal?

President Donald Trump on Friday tweeted a new requirement of any immigration deal -- and it could throw a wrench in negotiations on how to protect young undocumented immigrants in limbo.

"CHAIN MIGRATION cannot be allowed to be part of any legislation on Immigration!" Trump tweeted Friday morning.

The term "chain migration" refers to immigrants coming to a country based on a connection to family. In the US, a small fraction of green cards are given out each year based on employment, with family connections being a much larger share.

That includes spouses, children and some extended family.

It was not immediately clear what specific item the President was referring to.

Trump has announced an end to the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program started by President Barack Obama, which protected young undocumented immigrants brought to the US as children.

This week, however, he jumpstarted talks with congressional Democrats on ways to save the program and potentially keep "Dreamers" in the US.

The demand from Trump could complicate negotiations on the Hill.

While there is widespread support for the concept of a DACA deal, most likely paired with border security measures, the details reveal deep divisions between and among the parties that remain steep hurdles to overcome.

Republicans almost universally would want any deal to prevent any naturalized DACA recipients from being able to sponsor their parents or family for citizenship as well.

Trump has separately endorsed a bill from Republican Sens.

Tom Cotton of Arkansas and David Perdue of Georgia that would eliminate some categories of family sponsorship and limit green cards to immediate family and minor children.

It would also cut a diversity lottery and overhaul employment-based green cards to put a heavy emphasis on highly skilled, educated and English-speaking applicants.

But that bill faces opposition on both sides of the aisle, including from some Republicans, who don't like that it slashes green cards annually in half and doesn't allow for low-skilled applicants.

Still, transforming the US system from a familial approach to a more merit-based system has widespread support, though past proposals that have gotten both sides on board did not cut overall legal immigration.

MITT ROMNEY'S Grandchild vs MELISSA HARRIS-PERRY: Melissa Was Wrong!! (Partisan Hypocrite)

#RomneysGrandchild

MSNBC Show Host & Professor MELISSA HARRIS-PERRY was dead Wrong to recently Mock MITT ROMNEY'S BLACK Grandchild on-air.

If nothing else it was done so in poor taste.

Isn't Professor MELISSA HARRIS-PERRY a Bi-racial Woman??

So why pick on an Innocent BLACK Child who was adopted by a WHITE Family??

As long as the Child is being LOVED & well cared for, RACE should NOT matter.

Thus Professor MELISSA HARRIS-PERRY has proven herself to be a Partisan HYPOCRITE!!

By the way....

Tweeting an "APOLOGY" is Not enough.

She needs to go on the air and offer a Former APOLOGY.

First ED SCHULTZ....next MARTIN BASHIR, and now Professor MELISSA HARRIS-PERRY.

I say it's high time for MSNBC Execs to rethink their Show Line -Up.

Both AL SHARPTON & MELISSA HARRIS-PERRY'S Shows need to be re-evaluated.

Melissa Harris-Perry Apologizes To Romney Family

MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry apologized in a series of tweets Tuesday morning for using Mitt Romney's black adopted grandchild in a comedy segment over the weekend.

"I am sorry. Without reservation or qualification. I apologize to the Romney family," the apology started. "I work by guiding principle that those who offend do not have the right to tell those they hurt that they (are) wrong for hurting. Therefore, while I meant no offense, I want to immediately apologize to the Romney family for hurting them."

Each tweet of the apology came with the hashtag:

#MHPApology

"As (a) black child born into large white Mormon family I feel familiarity w/ Romney family (picture) & never meant to suggest otherwise," she continued. "I apologize to all families built on loving trans-racial adoptions who feel I degraded their lives or choices."

In the segment, part of an hour taking a comedic look at 2013, Harris-Perry pulled up a Romney family photo with the newly adopted grandson, who is Black, sitting on Mitt Romney's knee.

One panelist, actress Pia Glenn, sang “one of these things is not like the other” with another joking that it was representative of the Republican Party’s lack of diversity. “It really sums up the diversity of the Republican Party, the RNC.

At the convention, they find the one Black person,” said comedian Dean Obeidallah.

Harris-Perry joked about Romney’s grandson marrying the child of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. The segment brought on a backlash from people like Sarah Palin, Scott Brown and conservative bloggers, demanding MSNBC apologize.

Update 12 p.m.:

Harris-Perry has also posted an apology on MSNBC.com, in which she said the point of featuring the photo was to celebrate it:

On Sunday’s program, we showed a photo of Governor Romney holding his adopted grandson, who is African-American.

The intent of featuring the photo was to celebrate it — I often speak to the issue of the increasingly diverse American family.

Whatever the intent, the segment proceeded in an unexpected way that was offensive. Without reservation or qualification, I apologize to the Romney family and to all families built on loving trans-racial adoptions.

Twitter Turns 6 Today! Happy Birthday! Social Media Success!

Happy 6th Birthday, Twitter!

"Just setting up my twttr," Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey sent from a service that no one had heard of exactly six years ago. It was the first tweet, or 140-character message, to ever be sent on Twitter.

Twitter hasn't changed all that much since Dorsey fired off that tweet at 3:50PM on March 21, 2006. However, while the format is the same -- 140 characters to make a statement, hashtags used to sort by topic, and an @ symbol attached to a username – the service has changed the way millions of people consume information, share and communicate.

"It's really been about how people have changed around the platform and they've gotten very used to conversing in these short text bursts," says Mashable editor-in-chief Lance Ulanoff, who uses Twitter daily. He says people are turning to Twitter first as a way to get their news out.

"It's become incredibly important in people's lives to share information first with their audience, with their friends, you know, people they've never met before, but it's just become a truly powerful platform."

Powerful, indeed. Once criticized as a place where people go to share what they ate for breakfast, the micro-blogging site is now the first place many people go to get their news.

Tech evangelist Robert Scoble tells ABC News Twitter has become part of our media diet. "I don't see it going away, I see it becoming more and more important."

Think about that famous picture of Captain Chesley Sullenberger's US Airways plane landing on the Hudson River. It appeared first on Twitter.

And what about the Arab Spring? A 2011 study from the University of Washington says Twitter and other social media sites played a central role leading up to the toppling of the Tunisian and Egyptian dictators. Turns out Twitter is a great way to organize a revolution.

And the death of Osama bin Laden? If you were on Twitter, you knew about it before President Obama gave his televised address to the nation.

And then-candidate Barack Obama certainly wasn't the first politician to use social media on the campaign trail, but he was the first to realize and harness the money-raising powers of Twitter and other social networks. His followers were kept updated on his progress and when he won the presidency, he tweeted: "We just made history. All of this happened because you gave your time, talent and passion. All of this happened because of you. Thanks."

Since then, politicians have taken to Twitter to reach their constituents and get their message out.

"Politicians understand that if people feel like these tweets are coming directly from them, they may be able to understand the politician a little bit better and they certainly feel like they have a more direct connection, or a more personal connection to these people," says Ulanoff.

About a year ago, Twitter was valued at about $10 billion, while it struggled to explain its business model to people. Now it's firmly planted in the world of advertising and is using promoted tweets as a way to make money, bring in $139 million last year in ad revenue.

Scoble says there's "a number of different ways to make money but the top one is going to be advertising."

Twitter has used cash from a round of private investment funding last year (there's talk of a public share offer at some point) to invest in services and talent. Most recently it bought Posterous, a micro-blogging service, similar to Tumblr.

The company hasn't revealed what it intends to do with the service, but Gartner research director Michael Gartenberg says, "It appears Twitter is looking to evolve from the status update service it started as to an information service optimized for sharing and consuming information and content."

Based on that, maybe in its sixth year Twitter might see its biggest changes.

Bob Turner's Win NO Referendum On Obama! But Wake Up Call For Dems!

Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

Republican wins Democratic district in N.Y. race to replace Weiner

Republican Bob Turner on Tuesday won the special election in New York's heavily Democratic ninth congressional district - pulling a huge upset that few would have predicted just months ago.

Turner ran against Democrat David Weprin in a heated, summer-long race that ignited Democratic fears of a quiet election morphing into a referendum on the party and President Barack Obama, ahead of next year's elections.

"We've asked the people of this district to send a message to Washington, and I hope they hear it loud and clear," Turner said at his election party in Queens with a packed room, many of them Orthodox Jews.

"Mr. President, you are on the wrong track."

Turner came in with 54% of the vote while Weprin placed second at 46%, with 100% precincts reporting, according to unofficial results from Valerie Vazquez, communications director for the New York City Board of Elections.

Fittingly, in a race largely centered on U.S. policies toward Israel, Turner stood on a stage with Israeli and American flags behind him.

"We lit one candle today, and there's going to be a bonfire pretty soon," Turner said in his victory speech just after midnight.

The district, which covers parts of Brooklyn and Queens, is one of the strongest Jewish districts in the nation. Former Rep. Anthony Weiner vacated the seat in June amid scandal.

Turner, a former cable TV executive, made his first attempt in politics when he challenged Weiner for the seat in November and finished with a stronger-than-usual second place outcome, winning 40% of the vote.

His team hit a major turning point this summer when former New York City Mayor Ed Koch crossed party lines to endorse the Republican.

Koch, a Democratic Jew, hoped his support would send a message to the White House that Jewish Americans were dissatisfied with Obama's policies on Israel - namely the president's position that a future Mideast peace solution requires Israel to return to its pre-1967 borders, with land swaps.

"I like President Obama ... I helped get him elected," Koch said at Turner's election night party. "But he threw Israel under the bus."

His remarks were met by cheers from the crowd, including one man who shouted, "He's a sellout!"

Koch's nod pivoted the race into a relentless competition over who was a stronger supporter of Israel: Turner, a conservative Republican, or Weprin, an orthodox Jew.

Minutes after the election, the Republican Jewish Coalition released a statement in support of Turner.

"Jewish voters are coming to see that Republicans offer real solutions to our economic crisis, are resolute friends of Israel, and represent a way forward to a better future," said executive director Matt Brooks.

He added that the election has "huge implications for 2012 races in states with large Jewish communities, such as Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania."

Back in Washington and in a sign of uncertainty, both parties downplayed expectations earlier Tuesday.

"This is not a district that Republicans have any right to believe that we can win, but we do have a good candidate," said House Speaker John Boehner.

And despite having a 3-to-1 ratio of Democrats to Republicans and a long history of Democratic elected officials, Sen. Chuck Schumer of New York downplayed the district's strong tilt toward the left.

"President Obama won the district by much less than he won the rest of New York City," Schumer said.

"And so, to make the argument that this is a very liberal district and it's a close race, it's just not what the district has been."

Facing a last minute crunch, national Democratic groups poured in hundreds of thousands of dollars in ad buys within the last week, signaling Democratic concerns the race was heading for a neck-and-neck sprint to the finish line.

The final push came as a new Siena Research Institute poll Friday showed Turner with a 6-percentage point lead over Weprin just days before the election.

In addition to Israel, other issues took the spotlight this summer, notably the two candidates' positions on raising the debt ceiling and political issues surrounding the September 11 attacks.

But all ended well for Turner on Tuesday, winning a campaign that now makes him one of two Republican Congressional members in the New York City delegation, with the other being Rep. Michael Grimm of Staten Island.

And while Turner will soon be staking out a new office on Capitol Hill, he may not be there for long.

Due to population loss, New York has to cut two congressional districts and NY9 has widely been speculated to get the ax in a redistricting process set to finalize in 2013.

Weiner's Twit Attack: GOP NY-26 Revenge & NYC Mayoral Run Politics? Yes!

Its Time I Step In To Defend Congressman Anthony Weiner. After All The Guy Does Represent The District Of My Birthplace In New York City (Brooklyn).

You Know This Latest Media Hyped Sextext Scandal Involving A Congress Member Smells Like The GOP Might Behind It.

Could This Incident Be Fueled By Revenge From Kathy Hocul's Recent Win?

Hmmmm. Possibly.

Let's See First Hocul Wins NY-26, Than Weiner Gets Hacked, Than Sarah Palin Has Lunch With Donald Trump In Where? NEW YORK CITY Of Course!

Just A Coincidence? Or Not!

Anthony Weiner, A Well Known Liberal, NY Democrat Not Afraid To Stand Up & Fight For America's Middle Class, Senior Citizens, Health Care, Medicare, Rebuilding Our Infrastructure, etc., Was Recently Targeted By The Right Wing Media & Possibly A GOP Operative, For His Liberal Views & Liberal Agenda.

Most Recently His Support For The Winner Of NY-26, Democrat Kathy Hocul.

I Also believe Weiner Was Targeted Because He's Made It No Secret That He Intends To Run For Mayor Of New York City In 2013.

Yeah I Said It!

I Do Believe Weiner's Twitter Account Scandal Is The Direct Result Of DIRTY GOP & NY Politics.

Now Am I Saying The Particular Photo In Question Is Actually A Real Photo Of Weiner's "Hot Dog Bun"?

I Don't Know. Could Be Or Maybe Not.

Does It Matter? NOT In The Least Bit!

Why?

The Particular Photo In Question Could Have Been Posted To Weiner's Twitter Account BEFORE He Married. (Married For Less Than A Year)

Weiner, A True Servant Of The People & Former Ladies Man, Doesn't Mind Communicating Regularly Via His Twitter Account.

Its Just Common Web 2.0 Social Media.

So Its Highly Likely The Particular Photo In Question Could Have Been Sent By Some Scorned Chick (Of Legal Age!) Whom He Dated At One Time Or Another.

The Particular Photo In Question Could Also Possibly Be The Work Of A Paid GOP Operative, Hired To Smear His Name & Credibility Prior To The 2012 Elections So He Wouldn't Have A Chance To Run For NYC Mayor In 2013.

Folks Just Think About What Kind Of Great Mayor Weiner Would Be For New York City.

I Can Just Imagine!

He Would Be GREAT For New York City!

Weiner Is Passionate & Absolutely Loves New York!

Wall Street Would NOT Hate Him, Yet He Would Still Be Loved By NYC's Middle Class & Low Income Constituents Too.

Sure The Guy Is Explosive But What REAL New Yorker Isn't?

Come On People!

Stop Behaving As If You Haven't Been Cussed Out Or Ranted On By New Yorkers Before!

Isn't This How Fellow New Yorker Donald Trump Behaved At An Event In Las Vegas About A Month Ago?

So How Come It Was Ok For Trump To Behave Like A Real New Yorker, While Weiner Gets Slammed By The Mainstream Media?

Come On People!

Where's The Sincerity & Fairness?

Give The Guy A Chance To Prove His Innocence!

Should Weiner Be Cast Aside After 13 Successful Years In Congress?

I Think Not!

The Mainstream Media (CNN) Should NOT Be Allowed To Destroy Congressman Weiner As Payback Over Former NY-26 Republican Congressman Chris Lee's Dirty Little Scandal Earlier This Year.

By The Way Has Anyone Noticed CNN's Anti-Obama/ Anti-Democrat Agenda Lately?

So Until Anthony Has Been Given A Reasonable Amount Of Time To Clear His Name & Prove Himself Innocent, I Say He Should Be Respected As A Liberal, Yet STILL Very Effective, Brooklyn Congressman With A Brilliant Political Future Ahead Of Him!

God Bless Congressman Weiner & I Pray He Survives This Dirty, Possibly GOP Backed Scandal!

Congressman Weiner says he did not post lewd photo on Twitter

A Liberal Democratic congressman who came under fire for a lewd photo that briefly appeared on his Twitter account over the weekend told CNN Wednesday that he did not post the image.

Democratic Rep. Anthony Weiner spoke to CNN's Wolf Blitzer a day after a contentious exchange with reporters in which he refused to directly answer any questions about the picture.

On Wednesday he said he had hired a law firm to look into the matter. But he declined to directly answer whether he appeared in the photo.

"Photos can be manipulated. Photos can be of one thing and changed to something else. We're going to try to get to the bottom of what happened," he said. The photo showed the lower body of a man wearing underwear.

A conservative blogger who broke the story has called for a full investigation of what he said was either the hacking of a congressman's account or something Weiner wants to hide.

But Weiner told CNN he did not think such steps are necessary to deal with what he said was internet spam, an issue that many Americans face.

"Just because it happened to Congressman Weiner on his personal account doesn't mean that the taxpayers should pay for an investigation," he said. "I'm going to turn it over to some people who are going to give me advice on what to do next.

"This seems like it was a prank to make fun of my name, the name Weiner. It happens a lot," he added.

Asked whether he was protecting anyone, Weiner replied, "Yes, I'm protecting my wife, who every day is waking up to these insane stories that are getting so far from reality. You know, we've been married less than a year."

He also declined to say what he had written in direct messages to Twitter followers.

"I'm not going to get into how I communicate with people on social media. There was nothing ... inappropriate," he said.

An e-mail that Twitter sent to members of Congress Wednesday lists several online security tips, according to a copy of the e-mail CNN obtained. The message does not specifically mention the photo posted on Weiner's page, but notes that questions about account security have surged recently.

"Some of you inquired today about the security of Twitter accounts," Twitter's Adam Sharp wrote. "While we won't comment on individual accounts, news reports of the past few days are a good reminder of the importance of actively protecting your account credentials."

Weiner on Tuesday told reporters he wasn't interested in talking about the issue any more, saying he already made statements over the Memorial Day weekend after the photo turned up on his Twitter account Friday night.

In a heated exchange with reporters, he repeatedly dodged direct questions about the photo.

"If I were giving a speech to 45,000 people, and someone in the back threw a pie or yelled out an insult, I would not spend the next two hours of my speech responding to that pie or that insult. I would return to the things that I want to talk about," Weiner said in response to a question about whether he sent the lewd photo to a Seattle woman.

He also refused to say why he hasn't asked law enforcement to investigate if in fact his account was hacked, as he has said it was.

Despite repeated efforts by reporters, Weiner did not directly answer questions about the photo.

In earlier comments, when asked if the photo was of him, Weiner deflected the question.

"I'm not going to talk about this anymore," he said, adding: "I'm going to get back to the conversation I care about," including economic issues and what he calls a conflict-of-interest situation involving conservative Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas on the health care reform law. The New York Democrat is a leading liberal voice in Congress.

Asked several questions about the Twitter situation Tuesday, Weiner stuck to his message.

"I understand you're doing your job, but I'm going to go back to work now," Weiner said at one point. When asked if he was concerned about being hacked, he responded: "I'm going to return to working on the things I care about. I participated in the story a couple of days now, given comments on it. This is a distraction and I'm not going to let it distract me."

When a reporter noted the distraction might go away if he answered the questions, Weiner answered: "I'm not convinced of that.

"I'm not convinced there's any value of me talking about it," Weiner said.

Asked again if he was the man in the photo, Weiner responded again that he had made previous statements and now it was time for him to get back to work.

On Wednesday, Weiner told CNN that he regretted "the way that I handled it yesterday and I'm trying to do a better job today."

Previously, Weiner blamed the photo on a hacker who got control of his social-networking accounts and played a prank. Weiner's spokesman, Dave Arnold, said Monday the congressman has retained an attorney to look into the situation.

No formal criminal investigation has been launched, which rankles Andrew Breitbart, whose conservative website biggovernment.com first reported the photo on Weiner's Twitter account in connection with a tweet to a Seattle woman.

Breitbart, who has been involved in questionable tactics against Democrats and liberals in the past, told CNN on Tuesday that the case warrants further investigation.

"There's something fundamentally different between a prank and a hack -- a prank is innocuous, a hack is criminal," Breitbart said, later adding he wanted a full investigation by the FBI and Capitol Police.

However, CNN legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin said Tuesday he believed the situation was a harmless prank unworthy of further investigation.

"Twitter is not a very secure environment," Toobin said, noting that information on the site can be unreliable "and doesn't even come from the people it appears to come from."

He added: "There's a famous expression -- don't make a federal case out of it."
