CHAKA FATTAH OUSTED OUT OF PUBLIC OFFICE LIKE PATRICK CANNON

CHAKA FATTAH OUSTED OUT OF PUBLIC OFFICE LIKE PATRICK CANNON

YES THERE IS A WAR ON POLITICIANS WHO DARE TO UPLIFT BLACK COMMUNITIES.

Sources: AP,  CBS, Charlotte Observer,  Youtube

In April 2016 Democrat Congress Chaka Fattah 59 was defeated during a Primary by a 36 yr old challenger by the name of Dwight Evans.

Fattah an 11-term Black member of Congress, is currently facing an Indictment for Corruption charges which stem all the way from 2007.

Ironically 2007 is the same year Pres Obama launched his first term bid for US President.

I've never heard anything bad about Congressman Fattah until now.

Nevertheless Congressman Fattah now faces the same fate as Incarcerated Black
former Charlotte mayor Patrick
Cannon, also a Democrat.

In 2014 Patrick Cannon was imprisoned on Corruption charges for accepting Bribes.

***** Indicted Rep. Fattah loses Pennsylvania Democratic primary

Indicted Pennsylvania congressman Chaka Fattah, facing his first primary fight in two decades, has lost the Democratic primary just before the start of his federal corruption trial.

Fattah, an 11-term U.S. representative, had been outspent in the race as he struggled to raise funds for both the campaign and his defense lawyers. He was ousted on Tuesday by a 36-year state lawmaker, Rep. Dwight Evans, in his first primary fight in two decades.
"There were forces arrayed against us tonight of very powerful and influential people," Fattah said in conceding before supporters at a union hall in Philadelphia.
Fattah has represented the Philadelphia region in Washington for two decades and served on the powerful Appropriations Committee.
He's accused of accepting bribes and misusing campaign funds and charitable grants to enrich his family and friends. He has called the seven-year FBI probe that's ensnared his son and close aides a political witch hunt. He says he has done nothing wrong.
Jury selection in his trial starts next week. Opening statements are set for May 16.
The 2015 indictment describes four schemes, two involving efforts to erase $1 million in debts from Fattah's failed 2007 bid for Philadelphia mayor. The indictment also charges four associates, including former staff members, with crimes and accuses Fattah's wife of being linked to an $18,000 sham sale of a luxury car.
Fattah had three opponents in his heavily Democratic Philadelphia-area district.
Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney and Gov. Tom Wolf backed Evans.
But Fattah had the support of other key players, including black ward leaders and other local officials.
Fattah, who's 59, had won the office at 37 and soon became a fixture as the state's only black congressman, representing the only predominantly black district in the state. He flew on Air Force One with President Barack Obama and brought home millions of dollars in federal funds for housing, scholarships, transportation and crime prevention.
However, the White House on Tuesday distanced itself from a robocall that used archival audio of Obama's voice to urge voters to support Fattah and said it didn't approve. In the clip, Obama was acknowledging Fattah at an event for his work on neuroscience research.
White House spokeswoman Jennifer Friedman said Obama hadn't endorsed a candidate in the race. A Fattah campaign representative said she was seeking more information about the issue.
Fattah and his wife, former TV news anchor Renee Chenault Fattah, had long been a power couple on the Philadelphia scene.
But she left her job after the indictment, when prosecutors painted her as a participant in the sham sale of her Porsche to a lobbyist. She, like her husband, has said she did nothing wrong.

John Edwards Indicted On Felony Charges: Mistress "Hush Money"

Its Official Folks & Not A Moment Too Soon!

Today Former U.S. Senator & Presidential Hopeful John Edwards (D-NC) Was Indicted On FELONY Charges For Allegedly Illegally Using Campaign Finances As "Hush Money" For His Mistress, Rielle Hunter.

How Sad That A Man With Such A Promising Political Career Could Lose It All In One Swoop Simply For The Sake Of A Piece Of "Hot Tail"!

Yeah I Said It!

Edwards Had An Illict, Adulterous Fling Outside His Marriage With A Woman (Rielle Hunter) Who Possibly Carefully Calculated & Planned To Have An Adulterous Affair With John Edwards, Once A VERY Loyal, Married Man!

Am I Totally Blaming Edwards' Mistress Rielle Hunter For What Happened To John Edwards' Marriage?

No! Not Entirely However She Does Bare Some Blame.

Rielle Hunter Who Claims To Be A Professional Videographer, Knew Full Well John Edwards Was A VERY Married Man!

What Do I Mean By VERY Married?

Well Not All Married Men Are Committed & Loyal To Their Legally Wedded Wives.

Some Men Only Marry For Professional Or Political Reasons.

Especially If Their Wives Are From Wealthy Or Politically-Connected Families.

Nothing Wrong With Marrying A Good Woman From A Great Background, Except If AFTER His Wedding Ceremony The Husband Immediately Returns To Dalliances With Former Girlfriends Or Secretaries.

In Edwards' Case That Didn't Appear To Be The Norm.

Unless That Is It Was But Was Kept Hidden From The Public's Eye By Loyal Friends And Employees.

Is It Safe To Say That John Edwards, A Southern White Man Of Great Wealth & Prominence Living In North Carolina (Land Of "White Supremacy") Was Enabled By His Loyal Friends & Employees While Engaging In An Illict Affair?

YES!! A Thousand Times YES!

Is It Also Safe To Say If John Edwards Were A BLACK Man From North Carolina, Governor Bev Perdue Would Already Have His Head On A Platter For Such Behavior & Criminal Activity?

YES! A Thousand Times YES!

I Guess I Should Feel Sorry For Edwards But He Doesn't Deserve It.

Even If Rielle Did Intentionally Seduce Him (Not Saying She Actually Did Because I Don't Know), Edwards An Well-Educated Attorney & Politician, Should Have Known Better!

He Had A Devoted Wife Elizabeth (Deceased) & Wonderful Children At Home, Who Obviously LOVED Him Very Much!

What Piece Of "Hot Tail" Is Worth More Than A Man's Devoted Wife & Family??

Since He Created Mankind, Allow Me To Ask God Himself What Is It That Makes A Man OR Woman Throw Away Their Family & Career Just For A Sexual Fling? i.e,.Piece Of "Hot Tail"?

"I'm Married Not Blind" Is The Path Many Married Men & Women Take As An Excuse For Staring Too Long At Or Spending Too Much Time With Other Members Of The Opposite Sex.

Not Realizing The Longer They Stare Or The More Time They Spend With Other Members Of The Opposite Sex, They More Often Than Not Can Become Caught Up In Sexual Fantasy Land.

Unfortunately Many Married Men & Women Don't Realize What Has Happened Until AFTER The Damage Is Done.

(Remember Former South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford (R)?)

Marriages Ending In Divorce & Careers Destroyed!

In Edwards' Case He Even Lost His Beloved, Devoted, Faithful Wife Who Died NOT Just From Cancer But More So From A Broken Heart.

So Should I Feel Sorry For John Edwards'?

NO!! A Thousand Times NO!

I Only Pray He Repents Before God Almighty & Seek His Forgiveness.

I Only Pray His Children Are Able To Forgive Him.

But If Former U.S. Senator John Edwards Did Illegally Use Campaign Finance Funds To Hide & Hush An Illict Adulterous Affair With Rielle Hunter, (His Mistress) Then He SHOULD Pay To The Fullest Extent Of The Law!

As Mentioned Above Edwards, A Well-Educated White Attorney & Politician Knew EXACTLY What He Was Doing But He Kept Doing It Anyway, Sending Himself Deeper Into A Pit Of Entanglement.

Never Mind That He Hurt His Wife & Children Deeply.

He Kept Seeing This Woman Anyway.

Thus He SHOULD PAY!

If Edwards Seeks God's Forgiveness God WILL Forgive Him But He Still Needs To PAY Because Forgiveness Does NOT Eliminate Consequences.

To: Elizabeth Edwards; Rest In Peace.

To The Edwards' Children: God Bless!

Edwards Indicted in Campaign Fund Case

John Edwards, the former senator from North Carolina and presidential candidate, was indicted Friday morning by a grand jury in Raleigh on charges that he violated campaign finance law during his 2008 presidential campaign.

Mr. Edwards is scheduled to make his initial appearance in federal court in Winston-Salem, N.C., at 2:30 p.m. before Magistrate Judge Patrick Auld.

The grand jury, which has been investigating the case for two years, indicted Mr. Edwards on six counts — four involving illegal payments, one involving conspiracy and one involving false statements. “Mr. Edwards is alleged to have accepted more than $900,000 in an effort to conceal from the public facts that he believed would harm his candidacy,” Assistant Attorney General Lanny A. Breuer said in a statement. “As this indictment shows, we will not permit candidates for high office to abuse their special ability to access the coffers of their political supporters to circumvent our election laws.”

At issue are financial contributions that prosecutors say Mr. Edwards received in excess of federal limits, did not report properly and then misused for the political purpose of hiding his extramarital affair to save his candidacy. Mr. Edwards, 57, has maintained that he used the money to hide the affair, but for private purposes — to conceal it from his wife.

Mr. Edwards had a chance to reach a plea agreement and avoid the indictment, but he chose not to do so and will fight the charges, his lawyers said.

The decision to fight could lead to a long, messy, public trial and possible jail sentence for Mr. Edwards, or it could lead to his acquittal.

The decision to risk a trial reflects confidence by some on the Edwards legal team that the government’s case would not hold up in court.

“The government’s theory is wrong on the facts and wrong on the law,” Greg Craig, one of Mr. Edwards’s lawyers, said in a statement last week.

The decision also reflects the strong feeling by Mr. Edwards that no matter how much he has disgraced himself — by lying to his wife and to the country about an extramarital affair, which wrecked his marriage and ended his political career — _ he does not want to be seen as a felon or lose his law license.

“John Edwards has done wrong in his life — and he knows it better than anyone,” Mr. Craig said in his statement, “but he did not break the law.”

Strauss-Kahn Indicted! Historic Case For NYC! Family's Revenge

Today Former International Money Fund Chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn Was Indicted On 7 Counts Of Non-Consensual Sexual Misconduct & Assault For Allegedly Attacking An INNOCENT BLACK Hotel Maid.

A Hardworking, Lower Income Widow From Guinea, Africa Who Was Just Trying To Do Her Job & Support Her Daughter.

This Is To Be Considered A Historic Day In New York City Because Usually People Like DSK Are NEVER Indicted Or Punished For Crimes Against Women Like Strauss-Kahn's Victim.

Usually People Like DSK Are Allowed To Go Free Or The Victim Comes Up Missing "Sopranos" Style.

Strauss-Kahn Was However Granted Bail On Very Tight Restrictions & Several Conditions.

Those Conditions & Restrictions Are As Follows:

$1 Million Cash Bail
$5 Million Insurance Bond
Surrender All Travel Documents (Passports, etc.,)
24-7 Confinement To His New York City Apartment In Manhattan With Guard Monitoring & Video Surveilliance.
He Must Also Wear An Electronic Monitoring Ankle Bracelet

I'd Say Those Are Pretty TOUGH Conditions Wouldn't You Agree?

I'm Sure The Court Was Attempting To Protect The Victim (Hotel Maid) So That Strauss-Kahn Can't Do Anything To Her Before His June 6th, Court Arraignment Hearing.

But What About His Wife & Daughter Attempting To Contact The Victim Or Attempting To Influence Her In Some Way?

Considering How Wealthy Strauss-Kahn's Wife & Family Are It Would NOT Seem Unreasonable Or Impossible That One Of Them May Attempt To Influence Her Into Dropping The Charges.

If I Were The NYC Police, Prosecution Team & Victim's Attorney, I Would Most Certainly Keep A Close Eye On Both DSK & His Family.

Ex-IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn indicted in alleged sex assault on hotel maid, granted $1M bail

Accused sexual predator Dominique Strauss-Kahn can soon say "adieu" to Rikers Island.

The French politician was indicted Thursday for the attempted rape and sex abuse of a hotel maid - and then granted $1 million cash bail, along with house arrest and the posting of a $5 million bond.

But he won't leave jail until Friday because officials are working out the logistics of his release. Strauss-Kahn was set to return Thursday evening to Rikers Island, where he was held under suicide watch.

"It's a great relief to the family to have him back with them," defense lawyer William Taylor said outside court. "Now we can focus on some other aspects of the case."

Under terms of his bail package, the just-resigned head of the International Monetary Fund must remain under armed guard around the clock, agree to electronic monitoring and surrender his travel documents.

The cost of the conditions: a staggering $200,000 a month, prosecutors said. The $5 million bond will come from the family putting up their Washington home.

The decision by Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Michael Obus came over the protests of prosecutors, who wanted the 62-year-old Socialist Party bigwig kept in lockup.

"The proof against him is substantial, and it continues to grow every day," said prosecutor Artie McConnell.

The victim's account of the hotel horror was a "compelling and unwavering story about what occurred in the defendant's room," he said.

The judge's ruling came after Strauss-Kahn - who appeared in court tanned, smiling and wearing a gray suit - was indicted on seven counts stemming from Saturday's encounter at the Sofitel hotel in Times Square.

The charges included two counts of criminal sexual acts, and single counts of attempted rape, first-degree sex abuse, unlawful imprisonment in first degree, third-degree sex abuse and forcible touching.

The charges carry up to 25 years in prison. He's due back in court on June 6 for arraignment.

Lawyers on both sides argued over the defendant's release, with prosecutors saying he's a flight risk and should be tossed back in Rikers Island.

The defense insisted he's deserves bail and said he would be guarded by private security officers who would tackle him if he tried to flee.

"The prospect of Mr. Strauss-Kahn teleporting himself to France and living there as a an accused sex offender is ludicrous," argued defense lawyer Taylor.

Scores of reporters and the curious began lining up outside Obus' 13th floor courtroom before noon for the 2:15 p.m. hearing.

His third wife, former TV reporter Anne Sinclair, appeared stressed out as she entered the hushed courtroom with her daughter for a hearing that drew international attention.

She wore a black blazer and a grey dress along with her tense demeanor.

The defense team included five attorneys and two others. Strauss-Kahn arrived about 20 minutes after the hearing was supposed to begin, tanned and smiling despite his time behind bars.

He wore a gray suit and blue shirt, without a tie.

So IMF Chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn's Accuser Is A BLACK, Uneducated Female Immigrant From Guinea, Who Resides With Her Teenage Daughter In South Bronx, NYC.

(FYI: Guinea Is A Country In West Africa.)

I Wonder If Her Ethnicity & Background Will Affect The Outcome Of This Case?

It Shouldn't!!

Just Because Strauss-Kahn Is A Powerful, Wealthy White European Doesn't Mean He's Innocent Or Incapable Of Such Acts.

Especially Since DNA Evidence Does Exist!

And Of Course Strauss-Kahn Is Going To Use "Consensual Sex" As His Legal Defense!

Whenever A Black Woman Accuses A White Man Of Raping Her, They ALWAYS Say It Was "Consensual Sex" To Make It Seem As If Black Women Are Loose Sluts.

Either That Or They Cry "Extortion"!

Well Black Women Aren't Sluts & We're NOT Trash To Be Thrown Away After Being Used By Powerful White Men Or Powerful Black Men!

And For The Record No I Don't Hate Men. I'm Married To One.

Strauss-Kahn Has A History Of Such Deviant Behavior & Its Time He Pay Via The Criminal Justice System Versus Paying Off His Victims To Keep Quiet.

Now I Hear He's On Suicide Watch At Rikers (Where He Belongs).

So What? He'll Live!

He's Too Vain To Kill Himself.

But What About The Emotional State Of His Victims????

Notice I Said VICTIMS!!!

So I'll Pose This Very Important Question Again:

Should The Fact That Strauss-Kahn's Accuser Is A BLACK, Uneducated Female Immigrant From Guinea Matter?

Stay Tuned.

I.M.F. Chief May Claim Consensual Sex as a Defense

As Dominique Strauss-Kahn, the managing director of the International Monetary Fund, spent his first full day on Rikers Island, the hotel housekeeper who accused him of sexual assault was struggling with what her lawyer said was a life upended by the case.

The woman, 32, a widowed immigrant from Guinea who was granted asylum seven years ago, has not been publicly identified and has made no public statements about what prosecutors have charged was an attack by Mr. Strauss-Kahn, a 62-year-old Frenchman, as she prepared to clean his hotel room on Saturday.

But her lawyer said she had been unable to return to her job at the Sofitel New York or to her home, as both had attracted swarms of international news media.

And as she remained in seclusion, there were suggestions that Mr. Strauss-Kahn, a powerful, wealthy politician who was widely regarded as a strong candidate to run against the French president, Nicolas Sarkozy, next year, would put forward a defense that any sex had been consensual.

During a hearing on Monday in Criminal Court in Manhattan, a lawyer for Mr. Strauss-Kahn, Benjamin Brafman, told a judge he believed the “forensic evidence” was “not consistent with forcible encounter.”

Mr. Brafman did not disclose what forensic evidence he was referring to, or even if he had been apprised about what forensic evidence the prosecution had collected. Even so, that statement seemed to suggest the defense may acknowledge that a sexual encounter had occurred.

Indeed, on Tuesday, a person briefed on the case said the defense believed that any sex act may have been consensual.

That elicited an angry response from a lawyer for the woman. He dismissed any suggestion that the housekeeper, whom he described as “a very proper, dignified young woman,” had agreed to have sex with Mr. Strauss-Kahn.

“There is no question this was not consensual — she was assaulted and she had to escape from him, which is why when she finally got out of the room, she reported it to security immediately,” said the lawyer, Jeffrey J. Shapiro. “It doesn’t matter what Mr. Brafman says, and it doesn’t matter what the defendant says. Her story is her story, which she has told to everyone who asked her, and she is telling the truth. She has no agenda.”

Mr. Shapiro said his client “did not even know who this guy was” until she saw news accounts, adding, “She is a simple housekeeper who was going into a room to clean a room.”

A man who said he was the housekeeper’s brother said his sister did not know Mr. Strauss-Kahn’s identity when she reported the events to the hotel and, later, to police. The man, who manages a restaurant in Harlem, said she did not learn of Mr. Strauss-Kahn’s status until pictures of him appeared in the news.

He said he had called his sister several times on Saturday afternoon, but she did not answer the phone. She eventually called him back from a police station, he said.

“She just told me that something really bad had happened and that she was with the police and the doctors,” he said.

The woman, who does not have a formal education, emigrated from Guinea with her daughter, leaving that country under what Mr. Shapiro said he understood were “difficult circumstances.” The lawyer said she sought and was granted asylum in the United States, although he said he was unsure of her immigration status.

The woman, who speaks French and some English, is a widow, though the lawyer said he was unaware of the timing or the circumstances of her husband’s death.

Mr. Shapiro said his client was very proud of her job, which she had held for three years, and the ability it gave her to support herself and her 15-year-old daughter.

“She would have done nothing to jeopardize this job,” he said. “She needs this job; this job was her lifeline. She is not a woman of resources; she is not a woman of pretense. She is just a simple woman who is grateful to have a job where she can provide food and shelter for herself and her daughter.”

His client, he said, has enormous pride, and is unsure what her life will be like going forward.

“The fact of the matter is this is a situation that she didn’t choose,” the lawyer said. “She’s been victimized not only by what happened in that hotel room but by the fact that her life has been taken away from her for who knows how long.”

No lawsuit, he said, had been considered or discussed.

The case, Mr. Shapiro added, has turned the woman’s life upside down; she has been isolated from her life and her routines.

At Rikers, meanwhile, Mr. Strauss-Kahn was placed on suicide watch Tuesday, according to a law enforcement official. The official said the action, which will put him under closer supervision, was taken as a result of Mr. Strauss-Kahn’s intake evaluation, which was based on the nature of the charges, whether he had ever been in jail before and other factors, rather than on any gesture or attempt.

Mr. Strauss-Kahn’s defense team is likely to be back in Criminal Court on Friday, when a grand jury is expected to hand up an indictment against him. If an indictment is not issued this week, he would be eligible for immediate release.

A Criminal Court judge, Melissa C. Jackson, has already refused Mr. Strauss-Kahn bail, although his defense team is free to seek bail from a higher-ranking judge in State Supreme Court. It was unclear if the defendant would quickly try again for a bail package, or wait for further developments before presenting his arguments again.

Mr. Strauss-Kahn, who was being held in protective custody, had one visitor on Tuesday, but correction officials would not disclose the person’s identity.

Mr. Strauss-Kahn was served a breakfast of wheat cereal, whole-wheat bread, fresh fruit and a beverage. For lunch, he was given vegetarian chili with rice, green beans, a carrot-and-celery salad, bread and a beverage. Veal patties and noodles were on the dinner menu.

Tristane Banon, accuser of IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn in '02 sex assault, to renew legal claim

A French writer who says she was assaulted by the IMF's sex-crazed chief nine years ago will file a legal complaint against him, her lawyer said Monday.

Tristane Banon, 31, described Dominique Strauss-Kahn as behaving like a "rutting chimpanzee," when he allegedly tried to tear off her clothes during an interview in 2002.

Banon consulted with an attorney at the time, but chose not to take legal action under "pressure" from her mother - a Socialist Party official and friend of Strauss-Kahn.

Banon's godmother is Strauss-Kahn's second-wife.

IMF CHIEF IN SEX ASSAULT CASE CONSENTS TO DNA TEST

After hearing of Strauss-Kahn's alleged assault of hotel chambermaid in New York, Banon decided to renew her legal claim.

"She knows she'll be heard and she knows she'll be taken seriously," her lawyer David Koubbi told French radio.

Banon's mother, Anne Mansouret, says she regrets advising her daughter to drop the case against Strauss-Kahn.

"I bear a heavy responsibility," she said.

A noted lothario dubbed the "Great Seducer," and "Hot Rabbit," Strauss-Kahn landed in serious trouble Saturday when he allegedly attacked the maid at the luxury Sofitel in Midtown.

Police pulled him off an Air France flight at Kennedy Airport hours later as he tried to leave the country.

Strauss-Kahn, 62, has been charged criminal sexual act, attempted rape and unlawful imprisonment. His lawyers say he will plead not guilty.

A Socialist Party heavyweight, Strauss-Kahn had been a leading candidate to become France's next president, but his arrest has likely derailed his chances.

The International Monetary Fund has already appointed his deputy to take temporary control of the global economic body.

Also, Piroska Nagy, the Hungarian economist who had an affair with Strauss-Kahn when he was her boss at the International Monetary Fund, wrote to the IMF board saying he pressured her into having sex, according to The New York Times.

She called him "a man with a problem that may make him ill-equipped to lead an institution where women work under his command."

Lawrence Taylor Indicted For Raping 16-Yr Old Girl

Lawrence Taylor Indicted On Rape Charges

Pro football NFL Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor was indicted Wednesday by a suburban New York grand jury on charges of third-degree rape and patronizing a prostitute.

The indictment follows his May 6 arrest at a Holiday Inn in Ramapo, N.Y., where prosecutors say he paid a 16-year-old girl $300 to have sex with him.

Taylor had been charged previously in Ramapo Town Court, but the indictment transfers the case to Rockland County. He is scheduled to appear July 13.

The former New York Giants linebacker also was indicted on charges of endangering the welfare of a child, and sexual abuse and criminal sexual act in the third degree. He faces up to four years in prison if convicted. He has denied the charges.

Rockland County District Attorney Thomas Zugibe said the 16-year-old told investigators that she had been verbally threatened and physically assaulted by a pimp who drove her 26 miles north to the hotel where Taylor was waiting.

"One of the most effective ways to target prostitution is to go after the johns,'' Zugibe said. "This indictment underscores our serious commitment to prosecuting those defendants who create a market for the region's growing sex trade.''

Taylor's attorney reiterated his client's innocence Wednesday.

"Mr. Taylor and his legal team made a strategic decision not to present any evidence to the grand jury, including him testifying or any witnesses in his defense,'' said defense attorney Arthur Aidala.

The evidence includes sworn testimony by a 23-year-old woman who says she accompanied the accused pimp and the 16-year-old girl to the hotel where Taylor was staying. She said Taylor did not rape the girl. The teenager returned to the car with $300 in cash and said: "It was weird ... we didn't even have sex.''

The statement was given to investigators working for the defense team and seen by The Associated Press on the condition she not be identified.

Taylor's longtime business manager, Mark Lepselter, said they were looking forward to the legal process "and Lawrence being able to move forward with his life.''

A federal criminal complaint filed against the accused pimp, Rasheed Davis, recounts the victim's version of events and makes no mention of a third person in the vehicle at the time of his arrest in the Bronx. Davis has been charged in federal court with sex trafficking.

Authorities said the teen did not know whom she was meeting at the hotel room. The girl sent text messages to her uncle saying she was in trouble, police said. He called the NYPD, who arrested the suspected pimp once he returned to the Bronx with the teenager. The girl provided information about the hotel.

Taylor anchored the Giants' defense and led them to Super Bowl titles in 1987 and 1991. He was selected to the NFL's 75th Anniversary All-time Team.

A 10-time Pro Bowler, he was the NFL's MVP in 1986 and Defensive Player of the Year in 1981, 1982 and 1986.

The weight-loss company NutriSystem Inc. dropped Taylor as a spokesman because of his arrest.

Dr. Conrad Murray Being Indicted For Gross Negligence

Conrad Murray, Michael Jackson's Doctor, To Be Indicted

Nearly seven months after Michael Jackson's death stunned the world, the official investigation of his death is edging toward conclusion with prosecutors prepared to seek an indictment of Jackson's doctor on a charge of involuntary manslaughter, The Associated Press has learned.

The fate of Dr. Conrad Murray has been the subject of speculation since he found Jackson unconscious in his home in Los Angeles last June. Jackson was preparing for a strenuous concert comeback in London, and Murray, a cardiologist, had been hired as his personal physician for the tour.

A law enforcement source who spoke on condition of anonymity because the investigation remains open said Friday that Murray would be prosecuted on a theory of gross negligence alleging that his treatment of Jackson was an extreme departure from the standard of care normally followed by physicians.

Court documents filed last summer concerning a search warrant said police were seeking evidence of manslaughter.

The coroner has ruled Jackson's death at age 50 was a homicide caused by acute intoxication by the powerful anesthetic propofol, with other sedatives a contributing factor.

Propofol depresses breathing and heart rate while lowering blood pressure, so it's supposed to be administered by an anesthesia professional in a medical setting.

The singer died after Murray administered propofol and two other sedatives to get the chronic insomniac to sleep, court documents state. Murray told police he left the room to use the bathroom, and phone records show he also made calls for 47 minutes around the time Jackson encountered problems.

When Murray realized Jackson was unresponsive, he began frantic efforts to revive him, but Jackson never regained consciousness.

The coroner found the propofol was administered to Jackson without any medical need and that recommended resuscitation equipment was missing.

As the police investigation neared an end, criminal attorney J. Michael Flanagan said Friday he had been hired to join Houston attorney Edward Chernoff in representing Murray.

In addition, Chernoff released a statement saying he had not received notice that a grand jury was hearing the case or inviting Murray to testify.

Chernoff spokeswoman Miranda Sevcik said earlier that Murray neither prescribed nor administered anything that should have killed Jackson.

Flanagan previously worked in the media spotlight representing Britney Spears in a hit-and-run case. He said he tried a propofol case several years ago, representing a nurse who was acquitted after it was shown she played no role in administering propofol to a patient who died.

Flanagan said there was a difference between a nurse's role and "a very sophisticated doctor making a medical judgment."

To prove gross negligence, he said, prosecutors would have to show a conscious indifference for life.

"This trial could end up being a trial of medical practice," he said. "The question is what discretion does a doctor have to treat a patient, and if a doctor makes a mistake, is it a crime?"

Jackson family spokesman Jesse Derris said he had no immediate comment from the family.

A final legal action could be weeks away, after the case is formally transferred to the district attorney's office by the Los Angeles Police Department. In a grand jury proceeding, testimony is presented in secret hearings and the panel has the final decision on whether to bring charges.

An involuntary manslaughter conviction carries a potential sentence of two to four years in prison.

The district attorney's office is waiting for Los Angeles police to turn over the case before presenting it to a grand jury, the source said.

However, a spokeswoman for the district attorney's office denied that any decisions have been made.

"We have been working closely with the Los Angeles police during the pendency of this investigation," spokeswoman Sandi Gibbons said. "There is no case before us at present, and no final decision has been made."

To prove a charge of involuntary manslaughter, authorities must show there was a reckless action that created a risk of death or great bodily injury. If a doctor is aware of the risk, there might also be an issue of whether the patient knows that risk and decided to take it.

A large number of witnesses have been interviewed by police, including those who were present during Jackson's last days and those who worked with him in preparation for his comeback concert, "This Is It."

Authorities have also lined up medical expert witnesses to testify about the normal standard of care in a situation such as Jackson's and to give opinions on why Murray's actions constituted gross negligence, the source said.

Murray's professional history is expected to be explored during a trial with an emphasis on whether he had the required expertise in administering propofol.

The timing of an indictment would be dictated by two factors – how long it takes for the district attorney's office to conduct an internal review of the evidence and when the grand jury will be available to hear the case.

The person said it was thought that it would be more efficient to go to a grand jury than to charge Murray and proceed by way of a preliminary hearing. A presentation to the grand jury could take three to five days.

An indictment also avoids the adversarial process of a preliminary hearing in which the defense can respond and a judge decides if there is enough evidence for charges to proceed to trial.
