Susan Burgess Powerful Charlotte Influence, Questionable Legacy

Susan Burgess a well-known, very Influential North Carolina Politician, died yesterday from Cancer. I send my condolences to her family.

(Now here's the shocker!)

I'm sure my next statements will garner a lot of criticism but the truth needs to be told.

Can we just be real for a moment and not phony??

Drumroll please.....

I'm not trying to be disrespectful to Susan's memory but she represented the “Old Charlotte, NC”. (a Racially Segregated city).

Due to her powerful influence many people were afraid to admit it or say it but it’s true.

Just for the record a “secret” or behind-the-scenes Racially Segregated agenda is STILL a Racially Segregated agenda.

Who kept Mrs. Burgess in her seat of power for years and years?

Charlotte’s Black Straight Ticket Voters!

Susan NEVER really did anything much for Charlotte’s Black Voters but they kept casting their ballots for her anyway.

Why?

Because she was a Powerful North Carolina Democrat!

No other reason!

While its true Susan Burgess was a hardworking citizen and a strong political figure, as it relates to what she REALLY did for Charlotte's Black Community other than gather their votes, that part of her legacy is questionable and remains a mystery.

(North Carolina's Black Voters are notorious for endorsing White Politicians who never really will invest in the Black Community. i.e., Bev Perdue, Elaine Marshall)

Considering how seriously ill she was before dying, I truly hope Susan rests in peace but I also pray that now Charlotte can begin to move forward away from Racial Discrimination and Segregation.
