Pelosi: CBO Score Will Be Helpful In Winning Votes
Speaker Nancy Pelosi thinks the estimates from the Congressional Budget Office will be a powerful tool in her bid to win over wavering Democrats.
“We need those figures, and that I think is going to be very helpful,” she said Wednesday night as she walked to her office. “But we’re feeling pretty good about it.”
She indicated that the decision by Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio) to reverse his position and support the bill could help Democrats placate liberals frustrated that the reform now being considered doesn’t go far enough.
“I think it will be important on the outside as well for people,” Pelosi said. “He has a constituency, and many of those people still don’t understand why there isn’t a Public Option.”
