Richard Burr vs ? N.C. Voters Ignore His Democrat Challengers
Poll: No N.C. Front-Runner Chosen In Democratic U.S. Senate Primary
Democrats and independents haven't picked a candidate yet in the Democratic primary for U.S. Senate, according to a new poll from the Civitas Institute.
Civitas asked Democrats and independents who are likely to vote in the general election who they would choose between Secretary of State Elaine Marshall, Lexington lawyer Cal Cunningham and Chapel Hill lawyer Ken Lewis.
Of the 367 voters surveyed, 14 percent picked Marshall, 5 percent chose Lewis and 4 percent chose Cunningham. The remaining 77 percent were unsure.
Marshall did better among voters who identified themselves as liberal. Those voters tend to vote in Democratic primaries, according to Civitas' Executive Director Francis De Luca
The Civitas poll echoes a similar result from a poll by Public Policy Polling, which also found that Marshall has a lead while most Democrats have not yet picked a candidate in the primary.
The poll, which was conducted Feb. 15-18 by Tel Opinion Research of Alexandria, Va., had a margin of error of 5 percentage points.
