Charlotte Leaders Debate Over Funds For Unnecessary 1.5 Mile Uptown Streetcar
Charlotte Leaders Battle Over Budget For Unnecessary 1.5 Mile Proposed Streetcar
A budget battle appears to be brewing at Charlotte City Hall over the proposed Streetcar Project.
The cost of the first mile and a half of the streetcar track through uptown is expected to cost $37 million. The plan is to spend at least $12 million from the city budget on the project. A Federal Grant would pay for the rest.
But now some council members are asking if the money could be used to create Jobs by improving Charlotte's roads instead.
