The absence of a wedding ring from a scorned wife's finger usually signifies that she could be on the verge of filing for divorce.

And if that was the message Elin Woods was sending her multi-millionaire love cheat husband, he'd better hope he's got himself a good lawyer.

For the first time since her golfer husband Tiger's numerous affairs came to light, the 29-year-old was snapped near the couple's Florida mansion minus her gold band and diamond engagement ring.

As she stopped at a petrol station near Orlando to fill up her car, the Swedish mother-of-two had no qualms about flashing her bare left hand to the paparazzi.

This couldn't-care-less attitude has fuelled speculation that Elin could be about to dump Woods - who is almost worth $1billion - and file for what would turn out to be one of the most expensive divorces of all time.

Some sources claim that she could be in line for as much as $300million (£180million) if she decides to leave him.

While her 33-year-old husband remained holed up in their £1.7million mansion, the former swimwear model, accompanied by her mother Barbro Holmberg, left to take her two children, daughter Sam, two, and 10-month-old son Charlie, to a friend's Christmas party.

Reports this week have speculated that Elin is to return home to her native Sweden after she bought a £750,000 six-bedroom farmhouse on the country's Faglaro Island - reachable only by boat - prompting rumours she could be about to seek solace in her motherland in the New Year.

But there are also reports she wants to save her five-year marriage to Woods, so the couple could be fleeing to the Scandinavian country in an attempt to save their relationship, after their plans to sail off to the Caribbean on their luxury yacht didn't materialise.

Elin's commitment to her husband has also sparked reports that she is to meet up with Victoria Beckham for some advice on dealing with a wayward husband.

According to the Sun newspaper, friends have persuaded Elin, who is 'filled with hatred' over Woods's infidelities, to talk to the former Spice Girl, after her marriage to footballer David Beckham almost hit the rocks in 2004 after claims he had an affair with his personal secretary Rebecca Loos.

A source close to Elin said: 'Elin should get advice from a person who has been through this sort of thing.'

Interestingly, Woods has been told that he should follow Beckham's example in an attempt to repair his tarnished reputation, which has led to him losing lucrative sponsorship deals.

Andrew 'Chubby' Chandler, head of the International Management Group, which handles top sports starts, said: 'It will take time to repair, but I think it can be done.

'David Beckham is the only one I can liken Woods to. He went through pretty much the same thing and it passed in about nine months.

'Now he's a super-hero again who might single-handedly bring the World Cup to England.'

'Beckham had a very strong wife who stood by him. The circumstances with Tiger might be different, but I think he'll get his life back on track.'

But last night, 40-something Theresa Rogers, from Florida, was named as his 11th and oldest mistress, and she claimed their affair began before he was married.

She has hired Gloria Allred, the high-profile lawyer also representing Rachel Uchitel, the 34-year-old New York club promoter who was the first woman linked with Woods just days before the row with his wife that led to him slamming his car into a fire hydrant and a tree outside his home.

Meanwhile, one of the women who claimed she had an affair with Woods broke down on US television yesterday after she said she caught him one night texting other mistresses.

Cori Rist, 31, who has a seven-year-old son, said she had initially believed the golfer when he told her that his marriage was on the rocks.

And she thought she was the only 'other woman' in his life - until she caught him secretly sending texts while he was in bed with her.

The New Yorker, said: 'He has a way to make you believe that he is a very honest and good man.

'But I realised the things he was telling me were false.

'It's disappointing, because I think we all would like to think we were special. I don't know how he had time to have so many women in his life.'
