Five Birmingham Police Officers Who Beat Unconscious Suspect Are Fired! Possible Color of Law Case

In January of 2008 five Birmingham Police officers chased a suspect who refused to stop his vehicle.

The suspect Anthony Warren 38, eventually drove into a ditch, was ejected and knocked unconscious upon impact.

When the five officers arrived at the scene instead of checking his vital signs and then handcuffing the guy, all of them begin beating him with billy clubs, their fists, etc.,

Warren was hospitalized for four days. Once he regained consciousness he discovered numerous injuries (severe concussion, a skull fracture, internal bleeding, broken bones, bruising, etc.,) of which he thought resulted from the accident.

It wasn't until he viewed the tape at a later date, that Warren learned what happened to him.

Apparently some of the officers involved and Internal Affairs personnel tried to hide the tape.

All five officers were recently terminated.

Since it appears as if Warren's Civil Rights were violated, the FBI is investigating to see if this incident fits the criteria for a Color of Law case.

Color of Law cases involve: excessive force, sexual assaults, false arrest & fabrication of evidence, deprivation of property and failure to keep from harm.

Warren's Attorney has filed a Personal Injury claim against the Birmingham Police Dept.

The officers have filed an appeal to the Jefferson County Personnel Board.

Incidents like this are why both President Obama and U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder need to establish strict regulations to govern Law Enforcement agencies.

Too many Police Officers are breaking the same laws they were trained to enforce.
