Bi-Partisan Group Of U.S. Senators Firmly Committed To Pres. Obama's Health Care Reform Agenda
Politico----
The four senators leading on health care reform gathered at the White House on Wednesday to discuss how to make the increasingly complex health reform debate bipartisan while still getting a bill to the Senate floor by July.
U.S. Senators Max Baucus (D-Mont.), Mike Enzi (R-Wyo.), Chris Dodd (D-Conn.) and Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) assured President Barack Obama that they would keep to his proposed timeline and pass a bill that aims to provide coverage to all Americans regardless of pre-existing medical conditions or health status.
Yet there remains no consensus on exactly how to meet that lofty goal — and there’s certainly no widespread agreement among Republicans yet on whether a government-backed public insurance option should be in the health reform bill.
“The main point now is that we have to act now,” Baucus said.
Still, there were lingering concerns about how to pay for health reform and how quickly Congress can get the job done.
“I’m a little worried about the timeline, and I’m a little bit worried about how we pay for it,” Enzi said.
